You are 100% correct, Many are jumping the gun and giving false hope.

To be clear the drilling contractors would never allow for 3rd party equipment and supplies to be onboard before a legal binding contract is in place.

When the approval has been officially signed by the Government it will still take circa 90 days before the rig is ready to enter the 500m zone and officially be classed as on hire.

I obviously can't see what the clown BRS wrote however from others posts I presume that he is implying that we are paying for the 501 while it's stacked in Limbe? if so he has no idea how contacts work for offshore drilling contractors.

For clarity generally the rig starts it's dayrate once and only when it enters the drilling operators 500m zone.

I would suggest it is being towed elsewhere and all going well it will move over Tower in Q3.

We are some way off seeing any logistical movement associated with Tower as we do not have written approval to commence the proposed drilling programme

I am not sure where you have been given the information that we need a subsea wellhead? the only need for a subsea system is if an FPSO or FPU is used and even then you would need to know what pressure and flow rates the well has, and TRP won't know this until they have completed a welltest.

while drilling the drilling contractor would use the rigs BOP and choke manifold so these would not fall under the responsibility of TRP, the main issues that I see and the reason for a Q4 drill is the mobilisation of 3rd party equipment as these will all need to be certified, shipped and installed on the rig.

CMG, I can assure you that a rig will not move to any location until a contract has been agreed to and signed, Why would any drilling Company spend money without a contract? Once agreed then yes the rig would move to a location outside the 500m zone and once it enters the day rate starts.

This is standard practice and it also worth remembering the rig will need some to to get prepared, clearly you have never worked on a drilling rig.

It won't be! Once approval has been approved it will be months before the contracted rig will move on behalf of TRP.
