Great session with Sinead O’Connor, Nada Agagiby, and Aoife Ni Eochaidh Ní Eochaidh at PorterShed, Galway this Friday — diving into a topic that matters deeply to us as AI investors:
👉 How do we move AI in healthcare from hype to real, everyday impact?
We got real about what’s working, what’s not, and what needs to change.
Key takeaways:
✅ Adoption beats fancy algorithms. The AI that’s winning is the one that disappears into the workflow — taking notes automatically, flagging urgent scans, getting patients home sooner — and giving clinicians back time to care.
✅ POC to production is the real battlefield. So many shiny pilots never scale because they don’t fit into the messy reality of hospitals, or they fail to prove ROI fast enough. Founders (and investors!) have to focus on this early — build trust, plan for integration, and make it stick.
✅ Data + trust = staying power. Anyone can build a wrapper around ChatGPT. What matters is: do you have unique, high-quality data no one else has? Do nurses and doctors trust you enough to let your tool run in the background while they focus on patients? That’s the moat.
✅ Ireland and the UK are getting serious. It’s encouraging to see HIHI pilots bringing AI directly into HSE clinics and the NHS backing AI tools with real funding. We need more of this — not just research, but real-world roll-out.
✨ “If you’re not embedded in the workflow, you’re just another tool waiting to be replaced.”
A hard truth — but exactly right.
Big thanks to PorterShed Lorraine E. Curham and Fierce Tech Founders for pulling together such a candid, practical discussion — and all the founders in the room who asked sharp questions and shared real stories from the frontline.

Great session—and now I finally understand your question from the pitches! Apologies for missing it in the moment.
We’re absolutely focused on making the leap from pilot to production. Alto Health is designed for real clinical workflows—not just simulation conditions. We've spoken with 140+ users, mapped workflows in detail, and are working closely with early users.
We’re building structured onboarding and ROI tracking into our process, and tackling the integration and “data in” challenges (as Wili rightly flagged). Our goal is to ensure clinics don’t just trial Alto—they rely on it for every new patient.
Production-readiness is baked into both our product and GTM strategy. If only I’d said that on Friday! "
