[The spirit of Benjamin Graham begins instantly turning in his grave]
This board cracks me up.
The "Stonks Go Burrrrrrr" & "to the moon" attitude seems to have taken root among some.
Sadly, unlike the tech industry, the guys and girls working on our behalf in the Mining industry can only work with the hard facts of what's in the ground, the likely risks and costs of mining it, and how long that'll take (obviously more to it than that).
Either way; no-one is going to pay 100% of the present day Value of the metal in the ground for the privilege of then spending years and billions digging it all up.
70p - low but I'll be content
£1 - Great, high probability
£1.75 - less likely but still very possible
£3.50 - v. unlikely but not impossible
£35-50 - Dumb.
Happy Sailing to all new and old shipmates.
I mean... That's not how this works.
But I like the optimism.
Having held since Feb20, had a proper moment of weakness today where I started considering taking a few shares out to put elsewhere. Managed to refrain.
I'm absolutely on board with the company and the bod, but it's getting increasingly frustrating seeing other shares drop below buying targets and then head north while having no spare capital to deploy.
Just ranting among friends, in for the long haul and know we'll get a mega pay day in the end. Just wish the news would b1oody well drop!
2.759bn shares on issue.
Sale price of £1-6bn (excluding fees etc)
(Fag packet maths...)
1bn: 36p - (too low for UBS involvement and time taken)
2bn: 72p - (absolute bare minimum)
3bn: £1.08 - (Mid range, would be very happy)
4bn: £1.44 - (doesn't seem unreasonable/impossible)
5bn: £1.81 - (woo very nice)
6bn: £2.17 - (stopped caring beyond this point)
7bn+: "Stonks go Brrrr"
So I guess happy with anywhere between 72p - £1.44 minus fees.
Correct. Which Initially I thought was because they were N./S. America centric, but they're not.
Morning all.
I've had my portfolio ranked a couple of times by Rick Rule / Sprott US. He talks about it at the end of every interview (see youtube).
He gives ratings on mining companies 1-10. 1 being best, 10 being worst. For perspective, he's only given out seven or eight 1s in his whole career.
I've noticed they never give out 1-3s, which would make sense as that's what they want their clients to pay for; their intellectual capital on the best mining stock picks.
Mr Rule has mentioned a number of times that he's quite happy speculating in Russia.
Most interestingly; they're aware of VAST resources (£26m/Mcap, Romania/Zimbabwe, v. Diluted share structure).
Now, if they're aware of a tiny little company like VAST enough to have given it a ranking(7), they surely must be aware of EUA. If so, why then, have they not given it a ranking?
My guess is, they are aware and EUA and it's likely a 1-3 in their eyes.
This is all speculation on my part however, connecting the dots; it seemed like a possibility. This doesn't change anything, but just thought it was interesting.
Thoughts?
Cynic.
Nah mate, it made 2 people smile.
It's in the right place.
It's not a perfect fit, but "If" by Rudyard Kipling offers some sage advice on today. Take from it what you will, its a favorite and has seen me through tough times. Hope everyone, new or old, day traders, swing traders, and long term holders have held their nerve or not been burned too badly.
"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!"
Rums all round, keep your spirits up.
I've never understood why more people don't use IWeb-Sharedealing.
£5 per trade.
£100 one off acc opening fee (was £25 before Xmas).
Am I missing a trick somewhere?
Not that it really matters, but I see it more as a mindset which is as much about where we're going as where we've been. LTHs are those who have been through many ups and downs and are prepared to go through may more because we believe in the significantly positive end state of the company. STHs I see as those who are in for a quick buck, maybe don't understand the investment thesis quite so well, or generally just don't have the same faith in the project and are therefore more likely to jump **** if there's trouble. That being said, I don't wish them any I'll fortune!
Like I say, it doesn't really matter from my perspective. I've been here since Feb, I believe in the long term success of the mine under the BoDs guidance and will stick with it until the end. Whatever classed as now, I'll class myself as a LTH by the time this is all wrapped up.
Chatterley: don't be such a knob.
Joekay: keep asking away. If someone "suspects motives" that's their problem not yours. Engage with people on here/twitter/youtube. Talking to people IS research. You just have to put your own judgement on how trustworthy or accurate their work/opinion is. Also, finding similar or conflicting opinions online can be a good starting point for narrowing your efforts down when looking at the specifics of a company.
9 times out of 10, when someone say DYOR, it means they themselves actually haven't got a clue what they're talking about and haven't done any calculations or research either.
Good luck either way!
Lol, calm down mate.
Anyone else hoping this decline carries on until April so we can start piling in with next year's S&S ISA allowance?!
Shezer;
Don't sit on the fence mate.
HUAW; with whom did you serve sir?
;-)
Welcome aboard
...how about we team up in groups of 6... Get dressed up as pirates and make cardboard cut out pirate ships to 'wear' around the given town?
Daniel; same here. Only just avoided a massive loss on SXX (but suffered a loss none the less). Different company here, solid BoD, imminent sale, lots of background market turbulence. Keep the faith, go and re-read some recent RNS's. Ask yourself what's changed, and remind yourself why we're all here. Good luck!
"You should only buy a stock if you'd be delighted to see it drop by 50% for no reason so that you can buy some more" - Rick Rule (words to that effect)
LC here, from EUA as well. Been losely following UFO since Xmas. Annoyed I didn't commit funds!
How far do people think this is going to run?
