US is moving out of growth into value stocks.
May take a while for the SP to settle in given everything going on in the economy.

I dont think we hear any more on Q3 trading until end of Jan/ begining Feb. Q3 is seasonally a very strong quarter and better than H1.

On the ex-dividend date, the stock price is adjusted downward by the amount of the dividend by the exchange on which the stock trades. For most dividends, this is usually not observed amid the up and down movements of a normal day's trading.

I think KCOM have soured sentiment for defensive stocks today with a div cut and write downs etc

Sadly I have no cash to buy anymore. Very happy to hold for the dividend and the capital appreciation (and recovery).

Vod US is up c 1% this evening while NASDAQ is down c 3%. Another positive Vod signal.

Could this be why Mr Jeffries was able to sell at 185 - as a reward for his turnaround of the UK. Impressive given the legacy issues he inherited. Good evidence that there is strength and depth in the Vod management team.

Nothing is certain, of course, but I imagine the SP will recover with each reporting period showing continuing evidence of commercial execution NR spoke of in H1 results

Reasonable article but its not all risks. There are opportunities too. Daily Mail is on board with the draft brexit agreement. What politician would miss out owning Vodafones success in Europe over the next 12 months. Lets NR know there is no wriggle room. One bit of good news that loosens the noose around NRs kneck will send the SP soaring...

Reading the Weekend FT Databank this morning.
£100k buys me c£4.5k annuity and if I die tomorrow, nothing..
£100K VOD buys me £8.6k by June 2019 and if I die tomorrow, the share price and the dividend stream..

The market this year seems to see dividends as a reduction in the value of a business. I guess thats why the Fed wants to raise interest rates as fast as possible and remove qe from asset valuations. Its been like watching a crash in slow motion

Its good news Angela Merkel announced Germany is open to negotiations again now that there us a draft agreement. As I said, there is no direct reference to Telcos in the agreement and negotiations on tariffs will be under existing WTO rules, this never the less, should influence the German regulatory authority to move Liberty Germany forward or approve it early December..so something positive to look forward to. And NR a strong commercial negotiator too!

I skimmed through the draft brexit agreement (earlier post) and cant see any reference to telcos (spotted energy, fisheries and Farages EU pension lol). I think thats because Vod/EU telcos already agreed and operating under WTO and GATT rules. So Liberty will be dealt with under bau competition rules and should be ok. Everything is positive as per NR and H1 results

What would happen to Vod SP if it didnt do Liberty Germany? Anyone have any thoughts?

Agree no one knows (me trying to think like a div stripper, which I'm not but has been some talk on the BB) We hit bottom at 143, got 14p div confirmed so 157. We then hit 161 and more experienced/ lucky traders sold, then we settled around 157 ie 4p drop. So just a guess as I said

Still a good entry price for investors.
I dont know how the 4p interim div is marked in the price given the last 6 months but I am guessing 157 is the exdiv price so it will move to 160 today or next few days. I am holding for 14p div total by next June and further capital improvement (recovery)
