Looks like #TruckWars is going to happen. GM and others will have to match the spec of the F150 which includes driver assist.
To be honest didnt expect this to kick off in these models before the saloons and crossovers get at it.

At CMD Nick alluded to the fact that one of our Premium European OEMs had quickly moved to about $70m. Of course we don't know what contract links in with which OEM but it's a guess that it was BMW that hit the $70 mark.

More on th UN Regulations...

This is the first binding international regulation on Level 3 vehicle automation and comes into force in January 2021.

The regulation includes the obligation for car manufacturers to introduce driver availability recognition systems. These control both the driver’s presence, on the driver’s seats with seat belt fastened, and the driver’s availability to take back control.

Around 60 countries have adopted the United Nations regulation on automated lane-keeping systems for the introduction of automated vehicles in certain traffic environments.

The European Commission, which contributed to its development along with Canada and Japan, will apply the regulation in January 2021. Japan, which co-led the drafting of the regulation with Germany, will also apply it.

Looks like Bronco wont start with active drive assist.
Of course its an off-roader where active drive assist needs highway laned etc... Bit hard to map an off road trail!
Ah well just have to cope with the F150 and Mach-E until the next Ford comes out! No a bad compromise then.

PS :The Merc S Class is shaping up well too....

At CMD i asked the techie guys and they confirmed that SEE algo's can be ported to almost any chip. So it can run on Nvidia if thats what the oem wants.
However, usually inside any system you have a mix of chips.

Honda have given a statement of their intentions for 2024 which is great.
What is as important is what do they intend to do for ENcap, ANcap etc for DMS fast approaching.

TLS, the current chart needs a look at, things have moved on so I may have to revamp it a bit!
