Redeye claimed that SEYE won JLR as one of their first OEM design wins (was it back in 2017). Thirteen models and was a significant initial win. The design wins were to start production (SOP) from 2019 onwards.

Are they delayed or is something more significant going on?

It's easy to blame Covid which impacted events from early 2020 but more signficantly was the fact that JLR in 2019 indicated that they were going to use the steering wheel torque system (with coffee cup) and even a heated steering wheel as a driver monitoring system for at least the next few years ..... no sign of eye tracking DMS.

Recently we have learnt that JLR have scrapped a number of their new models which were to be released this year and next and are heading all in to electic from 2025 and are now trying to find a partner to work with them.

So the questions are : - Is JLR back in the RFQ frame for:-
a) whatever they will output between now and 2025
b) are any of the RFQs Paul talked about for the next JLR models or even the ones for the EV models
c) are SEYE being totally upfront about their design wins (delayed or cancelled?)

Of course JLR in terms of Volume is no Ford - jeez the F150 is getting on for x2 JLR annual production but lets see how JLR as an OEM plays out over the coming year.....

Supercruise certainly is getting the appropriate plaudits. Most had thought GM had underplayed SC but it seems to have taken off and has become the standard on which others are judged.

Of course thats probably until other OEMs get in on the act.

So the implication is that Ford copied the state of the art GM supercruise type system for the Mach-E (and of course the F150).
Shows how good Ford are at spotting a winner.
Remarkable as we have been told (at CMD) that Ford went from decision to SOP much quicker than any other OEM.

A lot of DMS systems are linked to new EV drivetrains as these are new production models....

Its strong carmaking chops may make it an extremely strong contender. Apple already courted it five years ago, when its carmaking ambitions first started.

So with other dance partners lurking for Apple, there may be more edge to Toyoda's quip.
