I will preface this by saying that I have had Covid and am still suffering, my wife has had it and my 5-year-old daughter is showing a sign of long covid atm, it's not just about deaths. In fact, the lockdowns have prevented the NHS from being overrun, which as you will know, so we don't really know how damaging it could have been without the lockdowns.

My point of view is based not just on my "opinion" but on the opinion of the scientific community who have published their research in peer-reviewed academic journals. The CMO will base his advice to the government on this independent and expert advice.

The key point i always make when conspiracy theorists spring up [you seem to be one] is that the UK government is full of inept planks that couldn't organize a ****tail party in a nightclub. I should add the West Gharib wells we have planned are purely infill drilling - they are very unlikely to be dusters. Let's just be careful shakey with making comments about individual wells - yes the well you highlight has a 33% CoS, but that is not representative of the broader CAPEX picture.

The majority of wells planned are development wells. Even those below are stepping out of a known resource...

I have done some DCF math and plotted the NPV and although i am not posting here, the number based on them doing nothing looks good [on the basis the business will eventually be closed down and the remaining cash returned]. Maybe nothing is in our best interest. If they get things wrong, there is a downside risk. If they just produce what they have to the lifetime of the fields and the gas price stays at - say, no less than 50% of current price, then i can't see how this could go wrong...
