Global stock markets were lower as currency markets are roiled again today, with focus on a crumbling Turkish lira and that country’s financial troubles. The Lira was down as much as 10% today following sharp losses last week. Turkey’s government has so far done or said little to stem the drop in the lira.

The Indian rupee, South African rand and Mexican peso are included in those secondary currencies also getting hit hard today by an appreciating U.S. dollar.

The U.S. dollar index rose to another 13-month high today, on safe-haven demand. The marketplace is worried about the Turkish lira’s severe depreciation expanding into a contagion of secondary world currencies. ''

Silver actually hit 28 monthly lows.

Wonder where the bulls calling $19+ etc are now....$14.xx is a long way away from there.....

PMs in a period that cld become quite extended to seeing lower lows.

Yearly lows of $1191 hit yday. Gold is in serious trouble and I doubt it's over yet.

Dollar breaking $96 didnt help either nor did increasing yen and devalued yaun.

So despite the turmoil in Turkey, as posted some months ago, Gold is no longer the safe haven it used to be in times of geopolitical risk...........

Dollar broke $96 yday. That doesn't bode well for the commods.....

Lol, did you see it!! Volatile even by oil's standards:) Down approx $3 during the day and within 1-2 hrs up $2+......

However, I wldnt say it's a reversal. Oil has been range bound for abt ~$8 for at least 2+ months when most were calling $200!!

Since highs of approx 8-10 wks ago it hasnt really moved below a $6-8 range so a $2 spike yday eve is meaningless,

Wldn't surprise me if it reverses and ends up several dollars lower by end of week such is its nature

Also if the $ continues to increase, $65.xx will be the least of oil's worries.....

Monthly highs of 96.43 hit. What??!!

No wonder poor gold is getting it ............and every currency in the EMs...........

That's totally gone through dble top of ~95.50.......

And there goes Oil.........another 2.5% kind drop of a day.....

Dollar has a lot to answer to....

NQ drop of 130 points followed by a bounce of 100+ points within hrs and now another drop....

Talk about dizzy......that was a ramp and a half even by NQ's standards.....:)

Likewise for SPX.....short, long, short.....cripes......and not by small amounts either...this is ultimate volatility. But ramps/pumping of indices based on what?? Certainly not fundamentals or strong volume for sure....

That $1185-1190 not so far away....

Yearly lows of $1202 hit.

This is going lower imho.............

The calls of $1400+ by most many months ago now a long way away, no??

More likely to see under $1000 first than $1400 if trend continues............esp if $ is going to continue its rise in the MT irrespective of what the yen and yaun do MT-LT....

As said repeatedly, sell the rallies/bounces/spikes.......

Current spread is only ~3% which is nothing and tbf, the actual bid and ask are much closer than spread wld suggest.

If not day trading, then spread matters not a jot:)
