Big-blue, where are you getting this idea of a fire sale from? Nesis explicitly stated it wouldnāt be a fire sale?!?
Big blue, get a grip.
Manan, how can you be invested in a company and not be aware of the situation?!?
Talk to whatever provider your shares are held with, ask them if they can sell them for you or to provide you with paper certs, register them on Tabys app and away you go.
Hahaha! Brilliant lol! Iāll put the date in my calendar š¤£
āWhat a hell on earth awaits youā ā¦
Sharing accurate news and discussion of it with a view of speculation for how things will turn out for us and using it to inform our investment case is one thing, but there is some serious drivel being flung about here from most postersā¦ itās a little tiresome tbh.
And to be clear, Iām not moaning about the war talk, I am actually quite interested in it and speculation for how impacts Poly, but by jove these discussions need to start taking emotion out of the picture and start being a bit more rational. Iāve taught classrooms full of 30+ 16 year olds who can have more positive and civilised discussions than some of the posters hereā¦.
Anyways, thatās my piece. Kuurj out.
TouchƩ big-blue!
Happy Friday everyone! Kuurj out.
BB - it seems to me you read my post very wrong. Have a red-read of it again. That was not my bottom line at all. I was merely pointing out, that that would be along the lines of the viewpoint of Russia. You might note, I clearly stated I fully agree with your stance on this matter in terms of what SHOULD happen - that Russia get out of Ukraine and cease their invasion at once. However, because of the cost theyāve incurred in their failing invasion, it is unlikely that that will happen. That is all I was saying there mate.
Anyways, thatās enough of that for me. Back to silent observation until something more worthwhile discussing or analysing comes up.
I think itās safe to say, BB and I have some very different opinions, however, I think his stance here is entirely justified. There are a couple of issues at play here.
1. As shareholders in a company exposed to risks of this war, we want it to stop asap so things can get back to normal. Of course thatās not to say we donāt also care about the humanitarian reasons for it to stop as well.
2. There is a war going on, one which was started by Russia - illegally. In Ukraineās eyes, and that of the majority of the worldās nations, Russia has no right to lay claim to any part of Ukrainās sovereign territory. Therefore, the way to peace is for Russia to get the hell out of Ukraine. And that is BBās point.
3. It is a war, and right or not, the fastest and easiest way to peace is for Ukraine to come to the negotiating table prepared to cede some things. Because ultimately, Russia is there because they want something, and in their eyes, they have won a whole load at great cost, and wonāt be willing to just say āhere guys, yeah, our bad, so sorry for all the destruction and **** youāve been through, have your land back. Cheerio!ā
The way to the end is not going to be taken by either of the simplest paths, precisely because of how much has been lost and destroyed. Unfortunately the governmentās concern isnāt the money of investors who knew the risks of investing and were warned to pull out of anything Russian related prior to the start of the war. The concern of the government is more about their political standing on the world stage now. And with so many parties and voices involved in this, itāll be difficult for reason to be heard above all the chaosā¦
Oh well, we shall see what happensā¦
Iām sure that, given the lack of auditor is due to being sanctioned, the LSE will recognise that, and give Evraz an opportunity to get a new one once the conflict ends and their sanctions are removed. Too many people would suffer from it as a result, if it were to be removed from the LSE without being given the opportunity to find a new auditor. And, at the end of the day, LSE is a business, and loosing the business of a company as large as Evraz would not be good for the LSE itself eitherā¦ but hey ho, we shall seeā¦
@Carltt - gloating not a good look mate. Rubbing salt in peoples wounds is not cool. Fair enough have a laugh to yourself about others mistakes, and even discussing their mistakes in an academic capacity so people can identify how they made mistakes is fair enough. But people donāt appreciate like that last one of yours, as itās clearly not designed for the betterment of anybody here. Letās be better as a board, support each other, have academic discussions we can all learn from, and debate where we disagree on things, so that we can make informed decisions. I know this will probably fall on deaf ears with the trolls and tampers/dreamers out there, but MOST Of us on here CAN and SHOULD be better.
Ah what the heck, I triedā¦
@devil666 - I am an Evraz holder! ?? thought I had already mentioned that! Got Ā£18k worth at suspension price sat in there!
@Newdealz - yeah, not a bad point at all, something Iāve started to gain an understanding of after my experience with them so far!
Carltt - nah mate, as mentioned, I donāt let dampers or de-tampers sway my opinion for my investing thesis, gotta stay as emotionless as possible with this stuff.
My other investments are Shell (up over 100% since I bought at 907p), Spotify (down 26%), Airbnb (down 12%), Confluent (down 38%), JP Morgan Russian Securities (up 2%), Kanabo (down 63%) & 4D Pharma (suspended)ā¦
Before you start rubbing it in, yes I know, swathes of red thereā¦ not too bad though, imo, given everything thatās gone on over the last couple of years, and I only started investing in September 2020ā¦ am young and holding with a very long term view, so most of the losses are just on paperā¦ done a hell of a lot of learning over the past couple years, and my strategy is actively developing. Going to target some slightly lower risk investments, but until I hit 30 I still have a relatively high tolerance for risk. Once I hit 30 Iāll start looking for lower risk performers, and more dividend payersā¦ and tbf, Iāve just bought a house as well, just before mortgage rates started going nuts, so on that front Iāve got a fair bit of security now to make up for lots of that redā¦
@GoldenTemple - bang on the money mate. Long term is the way I go to, though each time Iāve not traded on peaks and dips on my gut instincts I have kicked myselfā¦ Iāve got Ā£18k stuck in Evraz as at suspension price, luckily thatās up from total but in of Ā£14k, but still savage that itās locked for the time being, very much hoping things go well for them over timeā¦
Also bought into Amigo with a good Ā£7.5k at an average price of 16p before the first sanction hearing, and theyāre painfully low near the 4p mark, but yeah, patience with losses is important, but being adaptable and in the know of all factors is also very important tooā¦ even thought To myself I ought to buy the dip when they fell to 1p but didnāt, and was gutted when I saw it rocket up to 10pin a dayā¦
Similar story with my MGC Pharma holdingsā¦
But these are high-risk investments, and Iām only 26, so any losses are not the end of the world, as I have a higher risk toleranceā¦
These boards are good for getting an idea of some of inverstor sentiment, and takes on various bits of newsā¦ important is not to let opinions, fears or greed of others overrule your own investment thesis. Always revert to your own rationale and sure factor in some stuff I read on here, but decisions are always mine aloneā¦
Ironic that, isnāt it - cash are literally just promises to pay the holder on demand, that value in literal gold! Yet gold itself is not of enough use to people to accept it as tenderā¦
Iād happily accept gold in lieu of divi though, why donāt we suggest that to the board?!? ??
@CleverThoughts - itās not the best it couldāve been, but they have managed to decrease net debt with lower income for the quarter compared to previous years, and despite geopolitical situationā¦ gold sales back at full speed, and on track to have shifted inventory by end of Q4 is also good news imoā¦ sounds very positive to me, all things consideredā¦
Possibly someone trying to subtly offload? Idk tbhā¦
Wtf happened to my comment? Lol! Didnāt even say anything wrong. Guess asking people just to back up their stuff with evidence is against LSE regs now?

What about shares held in an ISA?
As I have all my shares in my HL ISA, is there no way for the shares to stay in that?
Any insights on how that works, so that I can keep the tax benefits of holding within an ISA would be greatly appreciated! :)
@big-blue no ploy from me mate, just calling what I see dude...
Anyways, that's enough on that matter from me - I cba with the childishness here. will be back when quality conversations return...
