countingcards - well I didn't see your posts yesterday (the thread was very active) but if it relates to mentioning another share here - all I will say is that I am sure many of us have been excited about another investment and have/wanted to mention it elsewhere. Indeed I am sure I have mentioned CLP on other threads once or twice in the past - so no need for an apology imho. You know that I have been a tad more cautious than others here (we discuss this on the other BB recently) and try to see the positives and negatives of each investment I have or may buy in to - however it's clear some have taken it too far here ie. no one wants 0.5p and no one has sold at 4p (were the poster got this idea who knows) - but most of us can see the BS if you catch my drift.
Everyone have a good weekend - we are blessed with some great posters on here who go the extra mile to research and post their findings - we should be grateful for this..

Cheap school clothing is nothing new.. I recall wearing poor quality trousers and a blazer back in the early 1980s. At least most schools still require a school uniform - imagine what some kids would be wearing if they didn't have to keep within certain guidelines.
Good comments about the quality of the food you buy - obviously if something costs 67p instead of £2 it is not just all about profit margin - its about the taste, ingredients, quality etc. Still to be fair you can buy certain items at Lidi/Aldi that are cheaper and do not appear to taste any different. My only problem with these chains is that a) you cannot always get what you want and b) so busy and no time to pack at the tills - the checkout staff are on speed dial!

There is obviously some historic issues going on between several posters who have appeared on the thread today - PLEASE take it elsewhere. As for "suck innocent buyers in" .. well there was an actual RNS - a significant RNS imho. Obviously good news attracts the odd new poster especially rampers - but some here are LTHs are will not be trading just on one bit of good news when so much is expected. LSE should be used as a DISCUSSION website - really, if ANYONE buys OR sells on the words of a BB poster - they really should not be investing in the first place!!!

Hi, not yet... got funds tied up (expect big things re CLP over next month)... but want to invest around results time providing the outlook is clearer... sometimes the time to buy is when everyone else is selling - worked for me a few times in the past HOWEVER there's risk here of course... still reckon company will pull though so worth monitoring imho

Great observation guys - must admit I rarely look at the Companies House website - will look more often from now on.. so much news flow pending .. agree with others - a RNS is very likely shortly. A few posters appear to be missing......

Others are right - we cannot give out advice - we can state our own opinion. The issues effecting Debenhams are the same now as when the share price was 12p or 15p. IMO the share price has been pushed down to historic low levels due to various media comments and shorting pressures (and sellers). Whether the time to buy is now or not is up to you - what I will say is that the results are due before the end of the month and should provide a clearer picture on outlook and future plans. If the share price is higher/lower then will not matter in regard to having a clearer picture of prospects gl

You need to read the other BB for the scaremongering - on here it has been mainly rational decent debate - especially considering how far the share price has fallen. The level of debt is one of the key factors for the share price decline... as well as the trading environment. Asking how it will be repaid or renegotiated is fair comment. The company is trading though a difficult period - I believe it will pull though this period - but fair comments are welcomed here imho

I guess it's within the annual report. Probably 5-6%

Voting rights - I am sure there are examples of shareholders holding more than 30% in a company. I wish you would stop spreading seeds of doubt. Its even more annoying when a new poster appears giving the impression they know more than Lths!

I personally prefer Tesco to Aldi/Lidi although will shop there. I just had too many experiences of poor quality fruit/veg and you simply cannot get everything there. The bakery is good and some items like cranberry juice is far cheaper. My advice for what its worth is "shop around" if on a budget. Get from you can from each brand - don't commit yourself to the same shop week in week out. I use Sainsburys/Waitrose for a pay day shop and good quality ready meals.. Morrisons for cheap veg.. Tesco for the range (a very large store near me).. and Aldi/Lidi for various items that are simply cheaper there. Co-op too because its the nearest shop but very expensive imho. We all have
our favourites but as far as the Tesco share price is concerned, looks oversold GLA.

When someone says they have bailed on a share - why do they then reappear on a bad news day (and the court ruling was always 50/50 imo) but not on a good news day like the recent loan conversion rate of 3.76p? A tad selective .. decent posters will post on both good and bad news !!!

The results did not warrant such a share price/market reaction. They were better than expected!!
As for Jacks - remember that Lidi and Aldi both entered the market with only a few stores initially to test the waters - and look what happened. Makes commercial sense to just open a handful of stores before expanding to more areas or moving the brand in to the larger stores. I reckon there's still room in the market for one more discount chain.
The trouble with the two German based chains is that they are expanding maybe too quickly now. eg. in Bristol both chains are opening next to one another in central Bristol just less than a mile from their other est branches - doesn't make sense imho. Sooner or later they will start taking sales from one another.. best they expanding in new areas. At least I cannot ever recall seeing a Tesco closing were I live - still if Sainsburys/Asda merge - there will be closures for sure..

.but amazon is an online brand - not heard they have any plans to move their brand on to the high street although they obviously have the fire power to buy literally any UK retailer on the market.. I am just hoping the results give out a positive message on the outlook - otherwise the shorters are not going to go away..

Actually it's NAV of around E 8 million apologies - obviously being at work means I can't double check my figures and happy to be wrong. RKB and others will probably update the NAV later - but again, it depends on conversion rate etc. I reckon most bond holders will convert. We can all agree that NAV will now be far higher and we are sitting on a sharp discount to potential NAV. I personally hope to add soon. GLA

Sorry QE, I am not really sure what you mean/suggest by mickey take? Many landlords have conceded ground with various retailers recently. They might be digging their heels in more now otherwise their income/NAV will fall like a stone. I presume the company will discuss on a store by store basis whether there is any opportunity to renegotiate the leases/rent. I would expect a mixed outcome. Some will concede ground - others will not. A CVA is still possible at some point but depends on what happens over the next few months with the talks. I am keeping an open mind on Debenhams - if the budget provides some relief on business rates this will really help imo

I hold and remain bullish but I don't buy the argument that just because the bonds will convert at 3.76p automatically means the share price s/b 3.76p. The interims had NAV at E1.57 million on 504 million shares equal to 0.31p NAV. Add E6.9 million less E450k nominal cost and 160 odd new shares (presuming full conversion) gives NAV of around E 7 million on 670-700 million shares so 1p to 1.2p NAV - rough estimate. So getting to 3.76p would mean a sharp premium to revised NAV. Doesn't mean it cannot happen - nor should we forget all the other NAV enhancing plans/events in the works but lets keep calm and carry on with gradual NAV improvement. Knowing this share - 3.76p isn't going to happen any time soon sorry..

Also another reason why the company is talking to the landlords is that a number of the stores are under long term leases with increase every year and will simply become too expensive at some point in the future if the sector does not improve. Of course a number of store leases end within the next five years so it is not every store requiring a negotiation.. time will tell if the company has any success with the landlords..

Thanks RKB - your research has always been balanced (imo) and a big help. An quick calc suggests a revised NAV of at least 1p excluding other events - but I sure others will provide a clearer picture later GLA
