A few more buy trades today .. perhaps the free float is low hence the gradual rise? News must be due. O/T shocking developments over on MYSQ .. hope shareholders get good news there soon

lse2000 - if you think a 1.1 million share purchase and £90k is a "small" buy .. I like to know what you think would represent a "large" one?

Wow! Some of us have been crying out for a Director to buy some shares for weeks and at last (!!) the CEO purchases a chucky load :-) Of course they could not buy shares during the closed period and maybe it took him some time to gather the 90k needed for this purchase but what a positive signal to the market and shareholders. Hopefully the new Finance Director will follow suit soon - this should also shut up some of the BB trolls on the other website beginning with "A". One note of caution - a director buy does not always mean the share price will recover .. ditto a director sale - but its the best news we have had for a while and I will probably add asap...

It was quite a long anti EU rant .. but to be fair, most top company bosses are ultra pro EU so he probably feels he needs to shout a bit louder to get heard... at least by the time of the next results we should know were the UK is heading !!

Why do you think shareholders will receive anything? It doesn't happen often with a company in this situation... look at the share price pre suspension for a start! I hope you get a return here but don't take it as red ...

LOL how do you "know" it? Wishful thinking - only MA will be remotely interested in buying Debenhams for the foreseeable future - and he has enough on his plate. Never mind special rewards via warrants/options - buy some actual shares!!!

I definitely agree, that going back a couple of years - the market value went way ahead of events and a correction was a cert - if the company had any sense they would have raised funds while the share price was in double figures - they left it far too late - a real shame..

That's not fair really - the company has been around for a while and was doing ok until recently - also the share price soared a while back ... then started dropping and obviously did not recover. It's shocking how quickly the situation went down hill and I still think there's a place in the market for a decent butchers on the high street - we have two near us in Chipping Sodbury - supermarket meat is not always that great. I hope the staff find alternative employment soon - not great news all round

Rather they were on a live market which might be the news. Could transform the company re access to liquidity. Only trouble being if it's eg. Germany it still will not get the same BB coverage as if it was on AIM. Not sure it would appear on top movers etc.. Also all shareholders should get news at the same time because sudden buying gives the impression some know something..

The RAP subscription is due today. Other than that, no news has been released yet there isn't usually sudden buying without a reason

Do'h... if you don't know why the share price is sub 9p I give up.. 1) neutral reaction to the results 2) shorts still hold the upper hand 3) worries over debt 4) retail sales poor .. I could go on but if you can sit and wait 6-12 months I personally would be surprised if the share price isn't higher but recovery cannot happen overnight - and is not certain

Sorry but I rarely shop online - usually need to send it back - ditto click and collect. With food I find that alternative items are put in the bag if your item is unavailable to the wrong item all together. Not saying online has a role - some do just shop online but people over 50 (like me) still enjoy the in store experience - feeling the item, trying it on - ditto supermarket - perhaps seeing something you might like to try. Are you saying its fair that Debenhams pays £100 million on business rates but virtually noting on their online sales (ditto Amazon etc).? NO IT IS NOT FAIR and needs to change. I would have a sales tax based on sales in the UK so that Amazon etc could not get around it - of course Debenhams would take a hit on their online sales but this would be more than offset by savings on a new rebate system for business rates or a cut - something has to change or there will be no shops out their in ten years time and I pity a world were EVERYTHING is done online tbh

Appears you been proven right in the short term but a lot of shareholders are down at the moment and don't need the constant reminders.. btw I never believe a share price moves by the comments of a BB poster - RNS news and trading volume moves a share price and obvious that over the last few weeks sentiment has not been great. TBH for me I watch with interest but have no idea what's fair value here (although I recall the 30p plus takeover predictions a while back) gla it will bounce back at some point imo

Actually I DO expect a couple of director buys. Two reasons 1) for the last few weeks it has been a closed period and obvious to me that the new FD decided the balance sheet needed cleaning up ie. goodwill write down and 2) the FD is new and so may make a purchase and the CEO etc. should/need give a signal to the markets of their confidence of the longer term by buying some shares - hopefully over the next 1-3 weeks. If not - says it all

Pearls, two points - you forgot to add on the £300 million debt to any takeover cost and why has MA not yet made a bid - he had plenty of time.. he is way down on his original investment - so who knows whether he will just sit and wait for sp recovery - sell his holding to another party - or bid asap... interesting times

It's not often a company reports a £500 million loss and the share price goes up 20% - however it was oversold. No position as of yet but hopefully the CEO will update on Sky News at 6.30pm tonight on current trading and expected 2018/19 profits - I would like to know this before investing big time. The company isn't out of the woods imho but I can see why some here feel it is worth getting in at this level gl
