Dying industry? People will still use retail to buy clothes, food, perfumes, homewar etc. Just not so much from the high street.

Nohearts - the Director purchase was still nearly 10% of his annual salary so not to be dismissed - I don't invest 10% of my salary into shares every year nor into just one share. It was either a desperate attempt to improve market sentiment or he believes in the company and the LONG term future. It was a bullish signal and now forgotten - his biggest mistake was timing - he could have got double the number of shares by now. Perhaps after the trading update more Directors will add - lets wait and see. What is clear is that the share price is now priced for failure so ANY positives could see a re-rating. High risk and as another poster said earlier - not one to pile in to ... yet...

If I recall Carillon failure was still a shock to many and the share price had not been falling for over a year - correct me if I am wrong. Totally agree with you, no one should say this will go bust or this will recover because we simply don't know! I doubt even the management know for sure.

So you concede what you posted was not factual - just your opinion! Great -- well make it clear next time instead of trying to scare anyone into selling... for the record ASOS has fallen another 10% since their profit warning - my point being the whole retail sector is in the dog house and will continue to suffer until Brexit is sorted imho ... then my opinion is that the retail will have an upward correction later next year (presuming no deal is off the table).
That last news i heard was that 1-2 insurers had cut/removed insurance cover - this is old news and i have not heard any new information - until we get actual news from the company on the 4th January I suggest the share price will remain weak until the picture is clear - good or bad

Can you provide the proof re supplier issues please? I had not heard any new info. As for share price .. the market keeps falling and other retailers have issued profit warnings so until the company updates then more will sell than buy. Quite logical

No not a Board member and I doubt any one senior in the company is posting here - whether anyone from SPD or another competitor are posting here is a different matter - remember it is in some parties interest to see this company fail... I just have indirectly worked with the company and know a few there and I am sure the BoD were extra motivated my the recent events - I would be...

Sammy, to answer your question. Get in a decent market, make a few NAV enhancing deals and I will buy. You may be right being in here on the early days but forgive me if I continue to observe for the time being.

I don't think it's fair - what will be the point? If someone wanted to boost the share price, the letter might have included a line in how trading is exceeding expectations. Hopefully we will get this included in the January update. Re pension scheme - have there been examples of pension schemes taking over their parent company ? Not sure when you add the debt and current low underlying profits that it's a goer. Over 100 posts yesterday so company is definitely getting the attention. However many other retailers are at risk of failure in the new year so let's remember this company is not an unique case

Added a few yesterday. Can't make AGM but hopefully a few here can and will be able to update later? If the news is as good as it seems then perhaps 1p might be tested today? Not a ramp, just that we know how the share price can move on good news (and fall on the bad days) GLA

Your comments could apply to about 20 similar size retailers at the moment - yet so many appear to only focus on Debenhams.....

Upside - thanks for the chart - perhaps it just feels like the share is shorted to dead.. as for the weakest department store chain - personally I would put HoF at number one even with MA backing . Surely it has performed the worse over the last 12 weeks?

LSE - you are obsessed with seeing the company fail and your 3p target - is this the price you close your short? You do realise that eventually shorts will have to close (presuming the company survives) and there could be the mother of all corrections... also the retail is in dire straits - the FTSE has fallen - so hard to see any share price rises atm. Of course it would be helpful for the company to comment on the share price re reasons but I guess we will have to wait until the 4th January and enjoy Christmas in the mean time!!!!

Predators, to be fair, there are quite a lot of posters who only post on this thread - not fair to single one out - I can't believe this is the only investment for so many posters - also to be fair, as an ex holder I post here too often but as others have said - this is so unique and many of us will like to see were this ends up! Agree, people can say what they want on a BB. 99% of posts don't make a blind bit if difference to trade or what will happen to Debenhams. Some hope it might effect a share price but thankfully most of us do not trade in BB comment especially the agenda posts.

QE, the HoF store is modern and the flagship store at Cabot Circus in Bristol . Never seems busy but will leave a massive hole if it closes. Debenhams is 200 metres away in an old 1950s building seems fairly busy as it has a glass entrance showing the lifts on all five floors. My point is this is an example o were a Debs/HoF merger might make sense as one department store in the shopping centre should have a decent future - the choice would be what brand to keep. So I do understand some of MA's logic. Just wish he went though the normal channels and actually make a bid rather than giving the impression he wants the business in administration first..

A few points - i post here because I have work connections going back 30 years so i really hope/want this company to survive - i never said it will survive - completely accept it future is up in the air - i just am not foolish enough to say it is finish before the event even (may) happens!
Nohearts - you are right about the profits will be close to zero without the Denmark business - you are also right about the poor cash flow. HOWEVER the whole retail sector is up S creek - just go back 2-3 years and read the 2015/16 Debenhams results - what were the profits and cash flow back then? A clue - a lot better. My point being that IF - and it is a big IF - the company survives this downturn - it can recover - cash flow may improve - we can all think of companies that nearly went bust but somehow pulled though.
MrJones - you asked me why i am here - i answered above. YOU? Just seems you are here to spread doubt and wind people up - that's ok.. i can always use the filter button. I respect your view - you might be right but there is NO POINT posting on a discussion thread if you cannot at least read and respect the alternative view point - ok? So no more deluded comments please - imagine being in a job - at Christmas - not knowing if you will have a job to go back to in the new year - hopefully you will never be in this position.
Final point - MA has really wind the Debenhams Directors up the wrong way - i can tell you one thing - the directors will be working 24/7 to save this company and prove this "shareholder" wrong. They have been given all the motivation they need - they do read the BBs - so thanks again for the trolling = extra motivation i guess. Of course motivation alone won;t save the company - if the sector downturn gets worse Q1 2019 then who knows which ocmpanies will survive! Even ASOS is down 65% from the share price high!

No hearts, hence why dividend axed and capex cut. People forget the BoD have taken measures to get through this dire period. They also might receive £200 million for their Denmark business and wipe out most of the debt.
Of course no guarantees but people who say it is CERTAIN company will go bust are obviously here for an agenda based reason imho. MA/Odey/competitors - seen it on the other BB and now they have parked their bus on here. I just hope it is not me eating humble pie because 30k jobs are at sake and if this company goes bust many others will follow
