It's a bit late in the day for the current management to rewind the clock re the mistakes of previous management on some rental terms. We can read the fine details every day or talk about solutions. I believe a sensible closure programme over 3-5 years makes sense. You think a CVA is the best option. However if it is only a section of the stores that have poor rental terms - even if over 50%, then is a CVA viable?

Last point - read the trading update - apparently the company is meeting market expectations ... I expect lower sales and lower profits - at least for the interims - but whether the company has breached any terms - who knows? You would think they would have to inform the market.....

RV - I am not disputing your points - you make a valid case - but I don't think it is wise or fair to put a date on a possible outcome re administration. It's just strange that you mention March 2019 because it will be when MA will be able to bid for the company.. he obviously wants administration to happen to get the company super cheap ... so I hope you understand why some of us wonder if some of the negative posters are connected in some way to SPD/MA/one of the hedge funds/competitors. I cannot prove it - but it would make sense wouldn't it?

To answer your points (not sure why you had to gang up on me though) 1) it appears not 2) there is a risk but I reckon it's less than 50% - to be honest, how can any one of us know for sure when we are not privy to sensitive information? We cannot really ramp OR deramp based on historic figures from last August.. (not sure why you care but hey ho)

RV again you mention administration.. can I ask .. why do you think this will happen when debt facilities run until NEXT YEAR? Also .. why 1st March? (btw sain@vision - pot kettle black re posting 24/7 on this thread)

Sain@vision - the trouble with BB discussion is that one will only listen to either the bull or bear view point to suit their position/agenda. You rightly mention that simple comments like "Debenhams will survive" are not helpful. FINE>
However - in the interest of balance.. I hope you agree with me that "Debenhams will go into administration in x months" is just as baseless, bland and unhelpful to the discussion. BOTH sides are at fault in this regard - not one side imho

To find out the key dates - just look at the historic RNS list above. Last year the interim results were issued in mid April and a trading update in June. I would expect something similar this year. Whether the company will be forced to issue an update on 1) bank facilities 2) bonds repayments 3) trading 4) takeover talk 5) funding before April is imho 50/50. So we could either have an quiet few months news wise - or a very busy period. I just hope the share price slowly improves during 2018. Remember employees may have significant share holdings too via historic share option schemes (be great to start a new three year option now at 3p presuming company survives)..
Agree about groundhog day .. and I am as bad as any one else.. although important I think most of us are overloaded with the rental terms.. the talk of admin.. and MA as topic discussion. Perhaps talking about Debenhams compared to the market on performance or possible options to recover might be of interest?

So find a few rental agreements for Debenhams that are not so dire and post them on here. We both know the legacy rental issue is a portion of the store portfolio hence the current plan to close 50 stores over 5 years (granted this may change)

S/b "yes".. we know the company is talking to the banks .. one media outlet suggests a D4E will happen.. perhaps... again i repeat - at this level the share price is already literally expecting failure - any positive news may cause a decent re-rating .. remember 30000 employee jobs are at stake and so is real shareholder money - when you have no position - you perhaps are not sensitive to the effect your comments may have...

HC - don't give us this nonsense please... "to balance out the thread" .. we already had USP, HunSen and Sain working 24/7 (just to name three) working 24/7 probably in some cases to protect their shorts .. we didn't need you to set up an account - after a year of share price decline - to add a bit of balance LOL. My view is that some are working together or have set up multiple accounts - I cannot prove it - just a feeling/impression I have.
Most shareholders here have acknowledged the risks - the fact that if sales keep falling and if we leave the EU on no deal Debenhams will suffer badly. Our agrument really is whether at 3-4p all the risks (that are known) are already factored into the share price. I would say "yet" excluding the real risk of administration.. no one here has suggested buying the shares.. some though have kinda said "do not buy admin is coming"... imho

LOL I agree - your rationale is getting silly. "I have known Debenhams for a long time" PMSL I think we all have known Debenhams for a long time - it's been on the high street ALL our lives. Just be honest - you are posting here more than any other share - why? Ditto the other non holders - if there is a valid reason for being here - great - but spend some time on your own investments too - if you have any. BTW I am not in panic mode - traded and broke even.. some made 50-100% recently .. of course if you did not set a stop loss and were holding from 50p down wards then i doubt you will get your money back.
Sorry but some seem to WANT MA to take Debenhams over.. and its quite transparent...
For the record - I expect Debenhams to survive - although i expect the share issue to increase later this year via a D4E

Just to be clear - if any share is on a watch list - it has to be for a reason 1) interested in sector 2) interested in company due to historic reason (held before/work in sector) or 3) perhaps see an opportunity due to being at historic low.
If I chose to post on a share on my watch list - I will monitor the positives... and the negatives.. come to a conclusion - either buy in .. or move on to other possible investments. Therefore lets hope you make your decision soon to buy in or disappear :-)

LOL the funniest comment i have heard this year to date.. since you set up your "new" account - it's been 100% negative .. ditto the other "new" posters who appeared over the last 2-3 months.. so easy to knock a share at a low .. harder to support it... so WHY is it on your watch list? Be honest - you have no intention of buying this share ... therefore your agenda is either to short it .. or for another reason.. ditto a few others here.. why can't people be honest when they post here? To be fair - its been constant negative media news for months (appears some reporters have issues with particular personnel or companies)... so even one or two bits of positive news will make a change.. the fact Debenhams have appointed a temp Chairman from Hammerson has to be a BIG positive imho considering what the company needs to do re store portfolio... January sales (for the market) were flat but expected to increase in February as people start to stock pile ahead of 29th March - any one would think we were about to enter WW3

Actually I presume Hammerson may be involved with some of the stores as landlord - so the guy will have a foot in both camps ... he will have good relationships with Hammerson and probably well known contacts with other similar property landlords :-)
