@Jamesp that’s a very good question. I think there are two possible scenarios. First is that there is a distressed seller trying to offload a very large quantity at a minimum price and hence why MMs can’t drop it big time. Second is that there is a big buy order in at a maximum price so they keep dropping a little at a time to get ‘weak’ sellers but they are not having enough success. In this scenario they wouldn’t want to crash the price to keep one ii happy at the expense of many other ii customers. However, on balance and on the basis that the price recovered after GHs purchase and then dropped again, I think it’s scenario 1. I have seen apparently odd selling before on other stocks only for a big rebound when they are finished. There often is no obvious reason to sell, but all investors have their reasons and timings and it could even be that they need the cash to cover losses elsewhere.
