My personal preference would be that it’s not sold in the coming weeks, purely because there’s so much long-term potential here that may not be priced in. That said, I agree that letting this go for anything less than 15p now would make no sense at all - and 15p today would leave me mortgage free at 35, with a wife that doesn’t have to go to work tomorrow... it’s all about our individual priorities at the end of the day, it would be hard for me to get too upset with that outcome!

In bloggsy’s defence that pessimistic view was based on the news they’d read... others have since provided more positive sources. In reality nobody knows when it comes to passing legislation stateside, and most of the time the decisions/timescales don’t make much sense from a practical perspective - much better to wait for actual news, as suggested below IMO

Entirely possible, yes - as I said earlier... exciting news to come in the meantime from other states. Also as I said... unless anything changes in terms of ownership in the meantime. Believe it or not, we’re pretty much in agreement on this share - I’m just trying give a realistic view of how long a LTH is likely to be in order to realise the full value.

Chalky - definitely agree, it changes nothing for me long-term and I can’t see any major obstacles to it being passed... as others have said, there will be exciting news to come before November - but unless anything changes in terms of the ownership of the company then I don’t think we’ll see the full value of the company reflected in the SP until the end of this year. Incidentally the final results for the year to May 31st should drop mid-November, so potentially news coming thick and fast at the back end of 2018.

The article is positioned very much in favour of overturning the current legislation... the reality is that November is actually viewed as being a quick turnaround for them - the fact they want to repeal current legislation ASAP is a good thing, but it doesn’t mean it can happen overnight. “A constitutional amendment will require two-thirds majority votes in each legislative house to place it on the state ballot in November. Passage would then require a simple majority of voters.”

I think you’re right to a point, but I think the ‘rushing’ will be to get the backing required to put this to a vote in November, and then (assuming the vote is to overturn the legislation) to act on that vote - I think the November date is pretty much set in stone

I don’t think it’s a case of sitting back and waiting - the constitutional amendment was introduced July 20th 2017. The fact that California state law effectively prohibits gambling at the moment means that there is a due process they need to follow, hence the timescale.

I haven’t seen the thread in question but I believe Naz is right... that’s probably the reason California will move much slower than New York - the same appetite still seems to be there. I think they’re talking end of the year for California!

New York, California and an RNS informing us of some kind of tie up / partnership - that’s the point that I’ll be thinking about getting out... that’s the c. 20p price IMO. Exciting times ahead for all holders :)

Definitely - I’d rather risk missing out than buy based entirely on someone else’s ramp on a completely different board. If you do that and end up buying garbage on a spike on a loss you only have yourself to blame IMO

The main reason some of my posts may seem overly-negative is that I genuinely believe they (or others’ posts here) will have no material impact on the SP... that said, I don’t want to be the guy convincing people to buy without doing their own reasearch, then left sweating on a 50% loss, even if it’s just for a week or 2

With respect I disagree - there are people here just ramping this every time there’s upwards movement... we’ve already seen some people getting caught up in the excitement and buying on a spike without knowing what they’re buying into. At least with Webis there’s a strong possibility they will do well in the long term! I just feel it’s responsible to offer a balanced view - this is very much a LTH for me, and I’m happy to wait for California and a few others before we see what this is really worth, but in the meantime this isn’t going to 20p IMO

Here comes all the ramping I was talking about... 20p maybe justifiable when California is passed, but I can’t see New York having as much of an impact and that’s the one that is imminent. And correct me if I’m wrong, but you’re talking about some pretty wafer-thin margins on parimutuel betting, so direct comparisons with other bookies are probably not that helpful - old news now but Betfred’s takeover of the Tote may be a good one to read up on, although they did have an effective monopoly in a mature market.

A great reaction to the news coming out of NJ - as with others on this board I feel New York could happen this month. If we’re back in the 7’s before there’s much more movement in California then I think that’s reason to get very excited indeed! Congrats also to those who bought in yesterday, very well timed by the looks of it.

Fortunately for me Manifesto, whatever profit I ultimately take from my (2.1m) holding here is unlikely to be influenced by how convincing you find me ;) Thank you strongman - I’m assuming that the same 52-week high rule applies to a squeezeout situation also? That’s what I was trying to find out last week; I’m sure a lot of people here would take comfort in knowing that the ‘worst case’ in a squeezeout situation is a price of 8.33p a share...

I do find it a bit strange/worrying when people automatically dismiss the fact the company could be taken private as ‘deramping’... as much as I’d love this to climb new highs in the next few months I don’t see any benefit sitting in an echo chamber where everyone’s yelling, ‘12p by Friday’. The (perhaps unlikely) fact remains he may take it private... that’s still going to be at a premium to current SP, so it’s hardly deramping even if it wasn’t entirely possible. The point that people like myself and I believe Naz we’re trying to make was in response to those who were hoping for a privatisation or buyout ASAP. I feel there is real long-term potential here, so I for one don’t want to be shut out of this anytime soon; for me personally a quick sale or privatisation is not the best-case outcome here.
