True spread on dummy buys and sells is 5.16 - 6.08 on Halifax

Like many others left when I could and came back about 20 years ago.
Tried to be patriotic and buy local but was hit badly by Flybe and Rockfire (Old EBC) and Avanti to name but a few. Still have Sutton Harbour but it is stagnant and Pennon. Not many others based down here so ventured further afield into mining.

Just over the border so still in sight of England.

They are remarkably reticent to say anything that might boost the sp, though we have had a small increase today on the back of a biggish AZ rise. I might make something with my trading pot yet.

Yep. Came back about 20 years ago. Live just over the border so can still see England.
PRIM is a funny one as it was almost totally valued on GGP which it no longer has. Hopefully the new team can realise the value in the other holdings and make astute investments. I still hold GGP from just under 2p so wasn't in right at the beginning.

Feeling much more positive about this now and with GGP up 8% today so far am glad I kept those.

The problem is that OXB is never mentioned so is invisible to the general public. Only the few who delve deeply would be aware of our involvement.
This is still very disappointing but dare I say typical of this sp as those of us who have been here for many years know only all too well.
I guess we wait for the financial impact and hope that shifts it. I certainly got my timing wrong again.

Nope. Down 34 points from the opening. It can only be people not liking the AZ news as that is down nearly 4% as well.
Complete misunderstanding of what they said in my non technical view but there was excitement over the first two vaccines so being third is a bit ho hum. Would be nice to hear from OXB about this but I expect they will maintain their usual silence.
I bought more a few days ago expecting a good market reaction so am well down. One day I will learn

Although the buy/sell figures aren't reliable on here as the bots just take whether it is below or above the mid point; nearly 9 times more buys than sells also suggest that a fall is not easily explained. Dont think you are missing anything., or anything I can see anyway. Very disappointing as the vaccine report is very good behind the headline 70% and OXB will be producing millions of it. What we don't know of course is at what margin and hence profit level though cash flow should increase substantially. Final results aren't due until next May but we should be due some interims soon and you would expect them to at least put out an RNS on what the impact is likely to be but given their previous communications history I wouldn't bet on it.

Yes the detail is much more encouraging especially as this vaccine is much cheaper than the others and easier to distribute.
I am not always hopeful that people read behind the headlines though so I may have to wait some more before making any money on this and you might get your drop first. All very irritating given the importance of this work and OXB's role in it.

AZ one of the biggest fallers today (2%) as 70% does not impress the market which is unfortunate as that level is historically very high for vaccines. Just the effect of the bar being set at 95% by the first two to declare (plus the Russians)

Clearly the market was completely underwhelmed by the AZ announcement. The prize for coming third I suppose in the pr race.
It is hard to argue that it was already priced in as the sp has been bouncing between £7 and £8 for ages.
I guess we will have to wait until it is being distributed or OXB declare what it is doing to its finances.
Very disappointed but perhaps not really surprised but just a little annoyed with myself for thinking this time with good news it might be different and tying up funds that could productively been used elsewhere.

The news is out so we will see what happens.
I bought more on the stroke of 0800 at 876 with my trading pot so am looking for a nice lift. Whatever happens I will leave the core in there where it has been for the last 17 years - you need patience in this investing lark!

I think you are right in that it is £85k per institution. For example I have funds in Lloyds bank but my share portfolio with Halifax. My cover is not £170k but £85k as Halifax is part of Lloyds so I am very much exposed if the majors go under but then there would be such mayhem that you think the government would have to step in.

Moderna's news seems to be all headlines.
90 people out of 30000 and much too soon to know if their are any side effects.
Interestingly while it is affecting the market there isn't the big reaction as there was to Pfizer.
Our time will come especially as I have sold my trading pot!

I have wondered aloud on here a few times about this and have found no definite information on which to make an informed judgement.
My guess, and it is no more than that, but reinforced by what Shatter has found about India, is that like AZ we are probably doing at cost or a very low margin.
It of course accelerated Oxbox and is enabling us to prove the manufacturing works but impact on profit, as opposed to cashflow, could be minimal.
It would seem strange if OXB was the only company in this loop making a good margin.
As I say just musings and guess work and would be happy to be proven wrong except from a worldwide pov the cheaper the vaccine is the better. It then has to be distributed and the populations vaccinated so logistics will be the key in the end and the UK government's track record to date is uninspiring to say the least.
