The approval is good news but perhaps not unexpected. I wouldn’t have thought it would significantly impact the SP as the work to recruit trial volunteers and the setting up or mobilisation of facilities at UCT needs to happen with additional personnel required. The Covid situation in SA may impact on the speed of progress with that.
Not wishing to state the obvious but it’s the results of the trial that will move the price and to move it in the right direction, the trial outcomes need to be positive.
All good at the moment though!

I would have thought that there would have been some news on the Scancell application by now!

SAHPRA has recently received queries regarding the procedure for submission of COVID-19 Clinical Trials Applications. The Authority is committed to expedite review of COVID-19 related clinical trial applications with the review timeline between 7-10 working days. The applications should be emailed to ctcresponses@sahpra.org.za and copy the following email addresses kedibone.malatji@sahpra.org.za and dominicah.thosago@sahpra.org.za. The Applicants are advised to also refer to the application to conduct the clinical trial in case of a public health emergency; the guide is available on the SAHPRA website.

In all likelihood, the board will probably manage a fundraise (they are all experienced at making bad deals!) then it will be shorted and after the main players have made their money, the company will bump along for a while until it expires. Move on, nothing to see here!

Legggsy, The guardian article states that AST is suing but the last Funding update from AST indicated that they “intend to instruct” and are “considering alternatives” so I am not sure if it has been progressed to actual commencement of litigation. If it had then I believe it would have required an RNS.
Regardless, it will take years to get to a finding and years of appeals.
AST cannot survive without further funding for that length of time in fact all investors here should expect the BoD to have the begging bowl out by the end of the year….and let’s not forget the auditors report stated that there is doubt about the ability of the company to raise funds to remain as a going concern.

Ol’Blue, I pop in here now and again to see if anything new is happening and reading your Wednesday 1534hrs post has me wondering in what way are posts on this BB considered to be legal documents.
I am not challenging but would like to know.

It’s highly likely that the Pingdemic has required some personnel to isolate at home. I would imagine Scientists and Lab Techs at SCLP affected would be unable to progress much outside of the laboratory’s. If they were to announce this, in any form of communication, it would undoubtedly have a negative impact on the SP.

It’s aim WTP was to inform.. I had not realised that it had been previously communicated. Your assumption that it was negative is because you appear to misinterpret my intent. I did not mention delays, I noted SAPRAH’s timeline, which as C11 indicated maybe accelerated. To be clear, I am a strong supporter of SCLP. I don’t have DE’s volume of shares but I have significantly more than some posters who have indicated their holdings on this BB and am well ahead with more upside to come, so why would I be negative?

C11, I take your point on possible acceleration in a “COVID world”… missed the previous posts as I am not here everyday or even every week!
Drac1, I got into this over a year ago on the potential Cancer treatments which have always been the main focus of Scancell. I look at Covidity as a possible / probable bonus, so essentially, I agree with you…Timelines are important but not as much as the end results and I am a patient man!…:-D

Scancell’s last RNS on 22nd June stated that an application had been submitted to undertake Ph1 clinical trials of Covidity in SA. Not clear when the application was submitted but looking at SAHPRA timelines for processing applications it may be a while yet before the application is approved.

WTP, my comment of “no mention of Scancell” was an observation on the fact that Scancell was not referred to in the link I posted and nor were they referred to in the CEPI newsletter where the link to Clover originated..my post did not make this clear.
Given the wringing of hands and bed wetting on here on the anticipation of CEPI funding, which may or may not come, I thought my observation was worth posting.

I believe I heard on BBC News tonight that the UK will concentrate on using the existing vaccines as boosters rather than vaccines being designed to treat “new” variants!
SCLP will have it’s work cut out if it is to develop a vaccine to change that opinion.. if I interpreted correctly!

Ping, it’s the MM’s… they manipulate the price upwards, then short it!.. a fortune made if you are brave enough. However, the spread limits are never in favour of the PI… ignore the false dawn!…understand how the AIM market works!…. Not trying to be patronising!!!!

Rigga not sure if that is a reference to commercial partners but we would clearly need facilities in SA to run the trial whether that would require a “partner” or not, I don’t know.
Not wishing to get ahead of things but should the trial be successful, how would we manage production at scale? …maybe that would be where we might consider partnerships perhaps…I get the feeling we are going to go it alone, maybe through contracting rather than partnering which I think could possibly attract predators!.. which would be good news for us investors!… just musing!!

I am guessing of course but it is possible that this news has already been priced in some months ago when the SP moved from single digits. The RNS was not unexpected but it is welcome confirmation of where we are specific to Covidity.
The gentle move north with the SP might be all we get until trial results.
Without doubt though, it provides a great buying opportunity as others have stated.

I am wondering if the speculation on Stifel / M&A would have any impact on potential CEPI funding…would funding, if any, follow the science or the “owner” of the science?…massive assumption that the Stifel appointment is around M&A!!
