Oh I'm fine thx , was just trying to say seeing it all first hand and people with severely laboured breathing and the amt of people was a shocker. Knowing it is happening and physically seeing it are two entirely diff things.
Think we all need to be careful , vaccination undoubtedly prevents many many deaths but the folks I saw yesterday looked very ill and this is one of the highest vaccinated areas in the world.

Hamster I spent most of yesterday at the local general hospital ( 60 km) with mum , thankfully routine but an absolute nightmare and had to attend as medication causing dizziness/ potential falls. Only allowed into grounds as mother cannot walk long distances. A& E overflowing , people waiting in several porta cabins, outside on chairs. Ambulances queuing to offlload patients. People on trolleys everywhere and lots of people in a very distressed state. Tbh so was I when I finally got out. Practically bleached hands and changed clothes in car park ! Was wearing a proper mask, infact better quality then the staff were wearing. Spoke to the consultant my mother was seeing. They not only have no beds , they cannot formally admit patients until a negative PCR received. No more isolation , as so many turning up severely Ill they haven't the staff to treat individuals in isolation, nor the rooms to facilitate it.
They are dependant on lab tests being returned.
I suspect Novacyt must be busy. Crazy
Ps I bored him rigid about the virtues of Q 32's and how they could be used afterwards ( stroke specialist) he took copious notes. Did think you look too young to be senior consultant , perhaps promotions come early with such severe staff shortages. No slur intended, he was highly competent and exhausted working clinics and stroke and covid wards.

They are queuing round the carpark and back again , it reminds me of the queues at Disney , except if you are positive the ride might not be the thriller you expected. Anybody else peed off with how the papers can report what's happening in the rest of Europe / the world but seem to turn a blind eye to what is happening here. Why aren't they up in arms about it. We've had a summer and now autumn of rising cases.

The resignation of J Farrar from Sage confirmed all I needed to know about the governments handling of the crisis. Amongst other things he mentioned were the eat out to help out scheme , delayed lockdowns and concerns about inadequate preparation for this winter. The guys contribution has been amazing and he has returned to his vital work at the Wellcome foundation. How long can you shout out when it appears your advice is being ignored.
I would listen to him and take heed everyday of the week ahead of some of the muppets who are government mouthpieces.

I feel it is incumbent upon myself to stress that without doubt vaccines save lives. If we were all vaccinated then the stats you were looking at would show all hospitalised were double vaccinated. The DEATH rate however would be substantially lower.
My question last night about what does mandatory vaccination mean has proven that even on this board it is a problematic concept and in wider society will cause issues as pointed out by some holders already.
I think it should be mandatory for the West to share vaccines and it is utterly shameful for the UK to be binning millions of doses ( other countries too )
We need to wake up and be proactive not reactive.
B2HS2L , I understand why you suggested what you did last night. I get frustrated beyond belief by the prats who are prolonging this through their selfish actions. The problem is B2H that the UK govt endorses this behaviour. Your suggestion would leave many children parent less and access to health treatment would become a preserve of the wealthy. I personally couldn't stand by and watch that happen and I think the bulk of the medical profession may struggle with such a conclusion. Without doubt this current prolonged UK wave has been fuelled by inadequate testing of schoolchildren and that could have been prevented. To many the concept of vaccinating their young children is troublesome and there will be I think more resistance then with older children. I don't know the answer to resolve this and although pro vaccine would baulk at the idea that I would be forced to vaccinate my five year old child if I had one of that age.
Would it be my moral responsibility to do so for the greater good of mankind or would my natural instinct to protect my child kick In and would I decide no the vaccine is too new and my child is highly unlikely to die from contracting covid.
It is so difficult and I don't envy parents of young children. Just my personal thoughts .
Hopefully If enough of the vunerable take the booster voluntarily any such issues can be avoided. My preferred route for increasing vaccine uptake is persuasion . I am sure with concerted effort the uptake could be increased. Give a bloody 200 quid food voucher to those who complete the treble whammy it will incentivise many perhaps. Too many stupid articles in papers , freedom day , never another lockdown blah blah , very mixed messages to the public at large. The NHS already had a well proven track and trace yet we wasted billions , use it now to reach out to those unvaccinated and try to persuade them to take up the offer of a vaccine. All just imo.

What does making the vaccine mandatory actually mean? Does that mean it will be made law ? How will that be enforced? Might see more then problems with surging covid rates in Europe this winter. This could cause serious civil unrest. The vaccine companies won't accept responsibility if something goes wrong ? Yet some countries will make the vaccine mandatory, am I misunderstanding something here? I am pro vaccination and await my booster , wear a mask blah blah. Does it simply mean exclusion from certain things , if it means mandatory in the true sense of the word then things are getting really scary.

@Troublesome and Porky exposed SP is another way to view it perhaps. He didn't to me as I was suspicious for a long time. To me Porky was so blatantly ramping it wasn't dangerous. The other was , I will guarentee many more were taken in. Me too initially. Just my thoughts. Might be totally wrong , could hear certain words quite pronounced that indicated mid North Wales, but overall dialect diluted and that is often the result of boarding school in formative years.
