Unfortunately personal responsibility is often severely lacking. That is as common in the Western world as third world countries. A good example of such is the rapid increase in diabetes. Whilst I appreciate it can be hereditary , a lot of it is lack of exercise and diet. The increasing rates of obesity are leading to a surge of those diagnosed with diabetes and all the awful side effects ranging from amputation to severe kidney disease and premature death. This is a disease which can be in the main avoided , but requires an element of self discipline. Again some predisposed to stroke and heart attacks but lifestyle also contributes a great deal. So the hope that those being 'naughty ' curtail their activities is In my opinion not very high. One can hope ! If folks aren't prepared to wear a mask I struggle to comprehend how they will be circumspect when it comes to activities they derive great enjoyment from.

Australia is usually a good indicator as to what the USA and UK may expect when one looks at levels of hospitalised flu admissions. Perhaps Kevin C could get FDA clearance for Winterplex or the DHSC may forward plan. Dreaming again Pebbles :) :)
This winter will be awful , people dying on trollies in July , NHS and ambulance services couldn't cope.
Don't think many will be opening windows with the price of gas and electricity. The master plan of warm buildings for people to congregate in would be fine if no Covid , Flu , respiratory viruses about , another dream :)

Looking at the economy and stock indices , logic dictates the Bio stocks should be buoyant. Should being the operative word. In the interim , no move to install ventilation in schools , Monkeypox has reared it's ugly head and starting to hear noises about polio , but not clear if caused by vaccinations that have been administered finding their way into waste water. And to anyone saying harbinger of doom , the above are facts and this is a diagonostic company.

Agree SirD just not feasible. Was watching closely as the virol experts globally were figuring what clades ,what mutations etc , a clear picture wasn't emerging until second week of June.

How have China been able to produce a monkeypox test when they claim to have no cases of monkeypox in mainland China ? Where did they get all the required samples of infected patients from to develop and validate the test ?

You could well be correct BYP , no idea , nor if the process is more difficult for one assay versus another , by that mean impacts quality of assay.

Sorry pressed send before finished , do recall Gdr rocketing in 2020 when they said 8 weeks until rolling 10,000 tests an hour of freeze dried beads ? Or something similar.

I would imagine this has been requested by one of our partners as D.A stated market driven but cannot substantiate that thought. As they could have selected any assay as the first , unless they are stupid then they must have gone with theses assays for a reason. I do agree though that reading previous statements it does appear contradictory.

Now would like to see if the company decides to move to CE marking of Mucking Funkeypox assays. APDN still rising off the back of an announcement. What would the decision criteria be based on ?
The probability it remains an issue ? How much so we estimate it costs to make a product CE , I assume availability of samples shouldn't be problematic as they obtained for RUO assays , or are we talking about a hugely inflated volume in comparison? Anyone any info ?

Testing relies on trained personnel with a significant amount of expertise, expensive equipment and complicated logistics that require a stable cold chain. There is a pressing need for testing strategies that are easy to use, reduce labour at the point-of-care and are inexpensive to deploy anywhere in the world.
This was the missing piece of the jigsaw with lab in a box / case, or whatever ridiculous name was selected.
As the new assays target the orf1ab gene am I correct that there are tax benefits to Novacyt which could be utilised in any negotiations to make the selling price very competitive ?

For what reason would they not? It is spreading not diminishing . Since D.A said they would see how things develop the WHO have escalated and cases are rising not falling. So some long shifts required Novacyt get a CE test to market and fast please and then sell it , infact such a shortage of tests forward sell it and take a good look at the contracts !

I believe in the UK we are administering ACAM2000 and a one dose routine instead of 2 , as insufficient access to the vaccine.
See Washington Post comment re ACAM2000 and the shortfall of Jynneos their chosen Monkeypox specific vaccine. I haven't a scooby as to what access Europe and ROW has to vaccines or their shot of choice.
