He says the plan for further commercial launches is "progressing very well".

All three divisions – enterprise, commercial and international – are performing well, he says, with the firm focusing on increasing customer numbers across the board. Thompson adds that while progress is being made, the firm still has a “relatively small market share” adding that management “firmly believes we can continue to grow”.

Wood said the firm sees the future in corporate story-telling and is looking to broaden their reach in the U.S market which has larger budgets. "Looking at that US market is where the market for quality programming is growing" he said.

The Phase IIb study, which was a larger study at a lower dose showed the drug was a little bit off the efficacy of its rival amitriptyline, but was still effective. But the firm has previously completed a Phase IIa study on ETS6103, which was carried out on a small number of patients at a higher dose, showing the drug had the same efficacy as its closest rival. Young says that the drug has a “cleaner profile” than amitriptyline, and adds that “across the two studies, we are pleased.”

In addition to its existing customer base of 4-star hotels, Totté says, “We also see opportunities in certain sectors of retail which is quite novel to the business itself. The product is of such a high quality that we feel that we can service a space there.” As well as its premium bakery arm, Real Good Food also has the cake decoration and food ingredients divisions and Totté is looking at complimentary acquisitions across the board.

The firm is to acquire Rustici Software LLC, a software specialist, for US$26mln and has agreed to invest US$3mln for a 30% stake in analytics specialist Watershed Systems. “Buy and build is an essential part of where we are taking this business, but be under no illusion it’s nothing without a very strong underpinning of underlying growth,” he said.

His comments follow a study - carried out by the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute - which assessed Parsortix’s performance in finding circulating tumour cells (CTCs) from patients with lung cancer, the world’s biggest killer. In all, 12 people were tested using the ANGLE technology and CellSearch, the only system for identifying CTCs that has US Food & Drug Administration approval. Parsortix scored 12 out of 12 when it came capturing 20 or more CTCs, where CellSearch weighed in with 10 out of 12.

The country is now looking at alternative power solutions such as coal to alleviate the chronic shortfall in electricity generation and is supportive of Oracle’s mine-mouth power station project in the Thar Coalfield in south-eastern Pakistan. With consortium partner Shangdong Electric Power Corporation of China (SEPCO), Oracle aims to start developing the project in 2016 and anticipates the mine will be brought into production within two to three years.
