"when cinemas where packed not many people had tv's," lol We all had plenty of TVs in the late 80s.
"if a streaming service says they will pay more then they will get the rights and the cinema will not be allowed to show the movie"
You are still not getting it, and another poster has spelled it out. Expensive on streaming = pirated for free = no profit.
@abrooking Yes! Finally someone that understands the financial implications of going straight to streaming. There is absolutely zero chance of this happening, as Hollywood will not stand for it.
As an example Avengers End game World wide box office was $2,797,800,564!
@Cloudstrife I'd like to see you backup your argument with some figures. Pick a big blockbuster that ended up streaming and then tell us how much it made in total, and how much of that came from its cinema release.
@jayboi7741 Oh I see why you don't understand, its because you are childish and low intelligence. But at least you signed off your last message with the some truth.
"If cineworld fail then who can pick up the pieces for cinema, " Disney would buy the assets for pennies. One possible theory.
"I’m pretty new to this investment board thing but one thing I can’t get my head around is people who spend time writing on the board of a business they have no shares in. It’s weird."
That's because you think its a echo chamber where people who have invested congratulate each other and re-enforce their bias. No, its not. In your theory, should people who are considering buying shares stay silent? Or how about those who have held for years, and then sold? Of course not. Its not a cult.
This reminds me of what happened with RR back on the 27th of August. Makes a huge eye watering loss, SP drops a large amount, but then closes up on the day! But then reality reasserts itself over the coming days / weeks. Very manipulated market.
You know you are dealing with gamblers when there is no mention of their SL or when they plan to take profit.
Well done. But make sure you exit strategy is as good!
No, but it did cause a lot of people not to give a damn about what it shown in cinemas. 10+ years ago, there was a great movie on every month. 20+ years ago, almost one every week. Now I struggle to think of 1 or 2 a year.
omg! 56% down. Even I didnt think it would open that low!
I wonder if Hollywood has started to regret stuffing its movies with leftie woke propaganda yet? Talk about killing the golden goose.
Yes 8.0p by Christmas, probably sooner.
Just you. Don't give up the day job for stand up comedy.
You guys should really read them to get a feel for what general people think about this news.
"Cineworld would have had problems even without corona virus. Where I live shops were going out of business left right and cinema before corvid came along"
"Cinema as a common event was doomed before the coronavirus "
"Over-priced tickets, too loud for the size of the room, awful food and drink and a dearth of decent films"
" who wants to watch films that preach at us and push PC versions of history as fact."
" it's batman part 126 or spider man the 25th installment. such unoriginal rubbish. "
"Cinemas are probably doomed long term anyway with the advent of home cinema/giant screen tv and streaming services"
"who on earth is going to sit in a mask for two hours, it's a form of torture."
Looks like general people don't really care. Fascinating.
"The big factor is not temporary closure but Bond delay to 2021."
What? You know they need to show more than one film right? And from all I hear its more woke feminised rubbish. Bond married, but wife refuses to take his name for instance. There was more things like this in it, but I've forgotten them.
"Mulan was a disaster." Mulan was a boring film with no clear audience. Its not for children. Who is it aimed at exactly?
On one hand its a terrible shame, but then I remember the awful woke trash Hollywood have been turning out. See there is always a silver lining!
"News of a vaccine could turn this round quickly in my opinion." The last shred of hope you have. Hold onto it tightly.
