Mixed day for palm stocks while cpo rallied from $800 lows to close at $825 after days high of $831.
Only two palmers climbed, DKL gained 0.15 to 3.65
and REA up 16 to 186. Not sure why they did but in REAs case the free float is practically zero though accurate figures are like trying to find that apple in the Garden of Eden.

Sober measured speech by Trumps leaves the door open for Iran to engage with the West and called for Tehran to abandon their anti West behaviour in favour of boosting the aspirations of Iranian citizens.
Should go down very well in the West and overseas if one overlooks Trumps grandstanding.
Of course this does not mean hostilities are ended given the 'head bangers' out there but the worst could be over.

The stretch was way too far, that was off the cards, of any sensible bet, a 7/1 shot or longer especially when cpo was the equivalent of Brent at $40.

Hell Halleluagh! Here we are topping Gs sp by a good 10 on the headline nos. Of course to be strictly accurate the sp is nowhere near Gs 176p on a pro rata/like for like basis, which normally would not be worth a comment. But give me a small victory!
If I delved into the nos my palm equivalent would be 400+ish... .shhhhh!

small lot buying pushes up the spread to 176-182. That's fine but dont get over excited. Any reversal of trades on the sell side will see the sp back to 165 in a blink of an eye.
Traders may be short of stock, but remeber they are never short of stock..so my mate told me.

Cpo heading to $800-$805 so further progress northwards will depend on upcoming output nos from both major producers and will China take up the slack from India and declining soybean imports. Consensus says it will so dealers dont want to be short. Fair do's.

I'd expect good nos from Mpe & Anglo who made respectively PBT of $18.3m and $30.9m. I did not check lse nos against the ARs.

Yea I make you right bunks but theres an awful lot of speculation atm from missile to cover up by the Iranians...

Whenever REA return to profits before tax heres a few nos based on current 170 sp (bofpc).

Also, a new Indian citizenship law has been criticised by Malaysia because its feared it could be discriminatory to Muslims.

A short term boost to Indonesia's exports to Malaysia may not be enough to satisfy local demand which will see a switch to other veg oils.
Currently Palm Oil accounts for 2.8% of Malaysias GDP and 4.5%
of total exports.

Gut feeling cpo is headed a lot lower. As soon as the consensus says it's a stellar year for palm prices and it's a one way street to paloookaville, that's the time to be dumping Rea and quitting the sector.

Will I? Probably not given the short term movements in cpo prices and with 50 wks to go it makes little sense to act on such evidence if your looking beyond your nose. Nobody called the rise. Nobody will call the fall.
