Ftse was 230 down picked up a bit to open 80 lower. Major surprise if they cancel the div, gotta keep the iis sweet and you big holders will want to reinvest your 10c dividend in cheapo G stock will you not? Here's hoping.

Malaysia in an extraordinary move will be shutting down most palm oil estates in an effort to stop the spread of covid-19 starting Wed, 18th. The Govt order will exclude refineries.
This lockdown is est to cost $370m in lost sales (708kt) and caused a 5% spike in prices.
The decision will have dire consequences on the industry and livelihoods of 650,000 people. The MPOA appealed the decision but was rejected.
Currently Malaysia has had 790 infections with 2 deaths.

The Dow has lost over 10,000 points from its 52wk high in Feb! Unbelievable the crash of all crashes has in just 30 days plunged 330 points a day with no sign of stopping.
It's just bounced off an 18910 session low. The mrkts are in ritual suicide mode. Avoid at all costs.

The UK is climbing the coronavirus charts hourly.

MPE is taking a battering from investors, this wk alone down 172p (31%) and ytd 47%. They have certainly upset their shareholders. Only 36k traded today but (treat that with caution).
The other big casualty is Anglo down 70 this wk and 202p ytd (35%). Cpo has risen this wk by $13 to $632 so unlikely to have been a factor in driving their shares so much lower.
Perhaps investors are throwing in the towel fearing the ftse tanking to 4000. Currently the ftse (5081) is back to 2009 prices!
The ftse and 250 were pummeled again today 4% & 7% respectively and the Dow was acting in its usual volatile manner off 1814 points taking the Dow below 19,500 last seen in 2016. These are manic depressive times as the mrkts are intent on committing ritual suicide. Thank God I only have one small stock to worry about.

No new cases/fatalities announced in the UK by midday, 1950 (71). Expect these to jump considerably in the next few weeks as we rise up the curve.

Estimates of 30-50k infections would put us on a par with Italy the 2nd most infected country.
Talk of 20,000 deaths far outstrips Italys 2505 and 6 times Chinas deaths. Why that should be I have no idea but that was proposed at the recent Parliamentary committee chaired by Jeremy Hunt.

Your losses, on paper only I assume will likely recover as long as you haven't been chasing blue sky mining fictions and reading between your lines I'm sure your not that type of investor! That's a bunch of money to be down...but the ref has not counted you out! I had my catastrophe last year a lot of money for me went down the khazi so my current holding is pocket money to you. But our % losses are the same.

Now looking like the ftse is going sub 5000, next stop 4000 then capitulation. Will the mrkts close if they fall through 4000? Circuit breakers seem to have little effect. From memory NY closed for a week following 9/11 and obviously during World Wars but consensus is to keep them open at all costs. Someone has to ring the bell and Buy Buy Buy! Gotta happen soon....shurely shirley!

We will be at Q1 close on Friday which will be little different to the above nos. A Q to forget about.
Were likely to be in "state of seige" mode for another 8 wks so recovery might be out to Q3 (Wk 36) or later.

I think the decimation of stocks caught 90% of investors on the wrong foot and by the time we had recovered from the "stock-shock" it was too late! )No option but to hold and wait it out hoping mrkts recover in similar time frames to past crashes. I bought back in here yesterday mostly because I'm addicted to unloved sectors and like the idea of making money while I'm sleeping... obviously not here....just yet.
I'm hoping China gets back firing on all cylinders and ramps up demand for palm. Despite the virus and supply chain backlogs trade will start flowing again and palm stocks could see a terrific recovery in Q3&4 given a fair wind as East Kalimantan is not in lockdown mode as far as I know. The rest of the world will catch up. They have to else were all in big big trouble.

Cases of the virus in Italy are slowing down remarkably in fact no new cases reported and NO more deaths.
We are behind them on the virus curve but for sure we will in time see a trickle of new cases and hopefully no virus deaths.
This might take another 4,6 or more weeks but it will happen as the nos of people out and about have dropped hugely.

I couldn't agree more bunks the volatility of mrkts engineered by the bloody machines I suspect in the main is becoming meaningless. Down 2000, UP 10000, Down again, up again, round and round again.....zzzzzz!
What on earth does it mean apart from a vehicle for traders to make money by shorting etc..., pis money funds are being decimated and portfolios smashed. In what way has this benefitted anyone except a minority?
If that's a commensurate response to I grant you a massive short term problem there is something horribly wrong in the States of UK & USA.

Indonesia recorded a $2.3bn trade surplus in Feb despite the virus pandemic due to higher manufacturing exports. These were up 11% to $13.9bn while imports were down 5% to $11.6bn.
Standouts were higher palm oil to Ukraine and jewelry to Switzerland.

Imports from China declined significantly to c 35%. The Govt has announced several economic packages to stimulate the economy through tax breaks & subsidies for workers & companies.
Indonesia has had 172 cases of the virus (7) deaths while Malaysia 673 cases and (2) deaths.
