WTF has the 6.7Bn repaid by BIRG to the taxpayer years ago got to do with the possible BIRG distribution to shareholders in 25 following publication of the 24 f/y results ?

You may wish to classify the 6.7Bn as dividends to the State - I would deem it redemption of bail out capital.

I have never classified bb as dividends -either in case of BIRG or AIB - but as distributions to shareholders .

Historically the ratio between Interim and Final div for both BIRG and AIB is 35% which would indicate a final div of 65c for BIRG in June 25.M.O'Grady has stated in giving prior results that the 40% pay out ratio can be exceeded in certain circumstances.

Considering a bb of 1bill was approved at 2022 AGM, of which only 520mill was taken up, and AIB have returned 2.2Bn to their s/h in 2024 as against 1.53Bn by BIRG I would expect BIRG to go some way to correct that 24 differential of 670mill when announcing their 24 f/y results, bearing in mind capital ratios of both banks almost identical. Only caveat is BIRG always more conservative than AIB.

I hope Joeoh's lower value of 12Bn comes to pass. Can certainly see a PBT 24 fig of 2.1Bn with an impairment charge of c 166mill. and a PAT fig of c. 1.75/1.8Bn resulting in div of over 700mill or over 70c per share.Shares in issue to be less than 1.004 Bn by results date. Davy predict share buy back of 675mill which is very probable and possibly more considering AIB have distributed almost 700mill more than BIRG in 2024 and both banks with almost identical profit ratios.

Assuming most things remaining stable would expect BIRG to hit €11 in run to year end. A PBT figure of 2.1bn and 675mill min BB should support a SP of up to €12. A mkt Cap of 11.5Bn and s/h in issue of 940mill gives a €12.23 SP.
