You could well be right but I'm looking at the likes of Ericsson , Continental , Veoneer among many who see India as a 'country set to become the third largest automotive market in the world by 2030' and who are not going to walk away from that opportunity and who are building capacity.
It's interesting to look at an Indian company like Wipro and judge how they see the development of the industry thru the evolution of their Patent applications. Their most recent METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR WARNING DRIVER OF VEHICLE USING MOBILE DEVICE clearly anticipates mobile devices and the companies that make them as having a role in the future of the role out of 5G and V2X/ V2V. The SEE patent does not bet on a particular Auto company or Telecoms company but it describes the low cost method, mounting and calibration technology that suits the specifics of the Indian transport system opportunity.

Here is a Driver Status patent from Korean company SSANGYONG MOTOR CO which is owned by Indian conglomerate Mahindra. The SsangYong Patent specifies that ' In order to install the smart phone 100 in the interior of the vehicle, a mounting stand is required, which can use a used mounting stand that can install a conventional smartphone'.

On Wednesday, October 31, Bloomberg’s Ian King published an article saying what many of us suspected would soon be the case: Microsoft will start deploying Xilinx XLNX +0% FPGAs in its future server deployments. I have now had conversations with both firms and I do believe that Xilinx has indeed scored a big win in one of the largest datacenters in the world. Given Xilinx’s technology lead over Intel’s Altera products, and its next-gen architecture, I don’t think this should come as a big surprise.

Of the more recent Patents from 2018/19 5/4/3/2/1 only ' A METHOD AND A SYSTEM FOR VISUAL HUMAN-MACHINE INTERACTION' mentions SE technology actually in vehicles and that is way down the description list and is illustrated in FIg 4 , not fig1, 2 or 3 and it is the ONLY Mosaic that I could see that associates or places SE technology in a car in all of the last 5 SE patents.
One could be forgiven for thinking vehicles was not the primary focus for undoubted talents of SE engineers and patent writers.
