I don't feel like we won. We did nothing wrong. We were awarded a contract. GLP hoped to find some brown envelopes stuffed with cash so they could make headlines and I'm sure they hoped to disgrace some prominent figures.
Someone, the gov/DHSC or Abingdon et al initiated the consortium to create and manufacture tests and other solutions to satisfy our country's needs in the face of the covid storm. Self-sufficient. Certainly, on the face of it, sounds like a great idea.
Consider this. Abingdon extended their buildings to house new machines, to store the tests and accommodate many new staff. We don't know what new solutions may have come to light due to collaboration within the group. A time to shine.
GLP in their arrogant determination destroyed these possibilities. The consortium wasn't needed. New staff were let go. The share price, the value of Abingdon was decimated and in turn so was my thoughtfully invested cash.
A Conservative government acting in a socialist manner, investing in our own, is quite unusual. The Conservative gang are forever being lambasted for spending money overseas rather than at home. Bit ironic eh.
So, thanks for ******* nothing GLP. You cost Abingdon and the consortium far more than the initial contract. You very nearly broke a good company and you have caused unknown and unnecessary financial hardship to more than a few.
I doubt you will consider that whilst enjoying your ribeyes and red this evening. Rather than patting each other on the back and having a jolly to cheer yourselves whilst discussing where your strategy went wrong and how had you attacked the case differently the outcome would have favoured your opinion, why not look at the damage you have caused and come up with some safeguarding policy so you don't do it again.
Naughty bid @2ish. Knocked my position out.
Results are very good. Surplus cash to initiate £15 million buy back.
As stated it is not a highly liquid stock and as such I am surprised that this isn't creeping upwards at a faster pace in what,to me, ought to apply constant buying pressure..I have of course been wrong before. Perhaps,as someone mentioned a while ago,it's under the radar.
Easiwynns.
I spoke to Barclays on Friday afternoon, having only just noticed that yesterday was cut off for going to certificate, he said they would happily take them back and that if it does get to that point they would go into regular trading account and I could then do a bed and Isa .
If you have nothing better to do, have a read of an rns the likes of which I am not familiar with. Seems the boss at TNT actually realises that share holders are more than numbers and like to be kept up to speed. Shame I had never heard of them until I wanted to know why they had such a good day.
I am not promoting a company.
The shameless disregard shown to the shareholders and our company by pokerface Truss leaves me with a twisted stomach. That the public of our country are supposed to unquestionably believe the weakest of arguments of contact with Vlads war machine. Boris and his slice of cake are more than preferable to me than this woman. She wouldn't look out of place in the Syrian presidential Palace. Still, so long as we keep sending billions to the Ukrainian war effort and spend the same on gas and fertiliser from Russia I guess we are treating them equally.
I was born in a Conservative home in a Conservative region. Work hard, be clever, buy your own home and buy a wheelbarrow for your cash! Loads o' money!! I was also taught to have at least a little moral value.
This government is behaving like the 1980s Tower block, work the benefit system, shell suit, fcuk everyone, how many joyrides can we have today kids that the government of the day created and the press said they were all brain damaged due to lack of oxygen in their high altitude tower blocks.
This gov is made of shameless crooks who really don't give a flying about anyone without wealth or influence. They are happy to allow the absolute rich into the country, they obviously think if you have made a billion you must be bent and share their values.
This gov thinks its OK to let a Russian buy a football club and property, to bring his wheelbarrow of cash into this fine country and with a changing wind tell him to get out, he had to swim the channel as they had taken his boats and planes. I believe it was suggested the fabulous mansions would be made available to squatters. Who the fcuk do they think they are. I am beyond disgusted at these theives who are now doing each other down to become the new head of the cartel.
They way they have treated us and other covid contractors is so meaningless to them, do they even know what's happening. I doubt we exist to most of the cabinet, so, it comes as no surprise that they don't recognise us in the gutter.
I hope this government gets hammered over RAs treatment, unless they have proof of breaking our law whilst in our country. Also applies to all those used as pawns . Meanwhile, the government continues to supply weapons and cash in the name of protection of Ukrainian citizens, it would be more acceptable if they were transparent about the genuine reasons for bloodshed.
Hi David, that was my point. Whatever was is probably still as. As shareholders we are all equals in restrictions.
I am stunned at the money/weaponry being sent to the Ukraine, I guess I had never considered the importance of what has been going on in resent years, Crimea, Donbas. God, the lives that have been taken. The total destruction. Its bloody appalling. The irony of spending money on oil and supplying weapons to fight the weapons the oil money paid for.
Probably best I don't understand what the hell is going on. I just wish diplomacy would end needless bloodshed, and soon.
IF the steel was being used in tanks, the company say no no no, then I am sure it still is being used in tanks. I'm sure they are still providing steel/metals for gas and oil industry. That would a good area to disrupt, if you were to stop the export flow of all things oil then it would deprive Vlad of income to pay for all his bad toys. Obviously the Europeans would have to put an extra jumper to keep warm, I'm sure most civilized humans would rather suffer a little cold than know the money they spent on fuel has been converted into a round thing, that is now rusting away in a ditch attached to burnt out tank/coffin.
So, being as this company is basically aiding Putins plan according to Botruss, what has changed since our suspension, apart from I depriving me of untold wealth?
Jotom and hopeful, cheers and thanks for the returns, I have smiled and reminisced as a result. hopeful, you must have lived somewhere pretty shocking to lack love for your old home town!
Moooog comes across as one from an era where Mrs Dracula would only be in the same room if she was to wear a maids uniform.
Jotom, thanks, I enjoyed your response, until you mentioned Rees slippery sh#t Mooooog. That thing makes me seethe. It may sound petty but when he put his feet up and reclined on the front bench, jeez I have overwhelming dislike of the contemptuous eel.
Hello Hopeful, I have in the past considered your suggestion of leaving the area. In fact I did a year in Scotland and five in Canada. I became homesick!! I wish I had given Canada another six months, upon my return it quickly became apparent that nothing much had changed (it never does!) and I began to wish I had never boarded the plane.
Not long ago, my girl and I went house shopping online, I think it was Bradford where we found a two bed property that I could have put on my credit card! Madness. Cornwall has just come on the BBC news regarding unaffordable rent. Shipping those less fortunate out of the country. It is an evolving story, as a kid I remember these southern counties being full of us country bumpkins and not overly desirable. Minimum wage is the same in Dorchester as the rest of the country. I guess myy day rate as a carpenter is roughly the same throughout.
Bla Bla Bla. It is as it is and I'm happy enough. When the media make a story about the poor people earning a dollar a day in some far off land, they could in fact lessen their carbon footprint and find that story at their feet.
You would have to point out anything you may deem offensive. To be honest, looking back at the thread, my point was R. A was considered as acceptable person to buy Chelsea, he and the other oligarchs who had reaped the rewards of the state sell off were accused of vulgarity in splashing the cash but he was allowed to take on the club. I personally find (if this is right) the government change of view on his ownership of Chelsea as no long acceptable because he knows Putin pretty harsh. The man has made plain disdain about what's happening whilst trying to stay out of the cross hairs.
I'm not really sure what he has to do with house prices, especially the ones I may look at.
Hi jotom, indeed I own some shares here, my last buy was at 10.05, not many minutes before Barclays closed shop.
Where I live, 5 min drive from the Dorset coast, house prices were driven to ridiculous levels by second home owners from this country many years ago. If you take out the 8 council houses, as near as damn half the houses in this hamlet are weekenders( covid made many full time for a year or so). A friend, Penny, probably the first holiday home owner, one of the rare non-locals who is part of the fabric, has just sold her two bed room mud hut that cost her a whooping 9k 37 years ago for £672k. Unsurprisingly it has been bought as a weekend retreat by a non local.
I'm hoping my shares in this company will make gains like my friends house to give me a chance of buying my own mud hut.
All the best. Joe
It does not sit well with me that this fine country of ours sees fit to allow foreigners to purchase assets, and I'm pretty sure that buying a football club will involve plenty of scrutiny, only to force the disposal and forfeiture. Hope we don't fall out with the yanks.
