Julian,was watching a TV program on manufacturing extremely hard diamonds,bought a zip disc 15 years ago for cutting granite cost around 500 pounds,can buy similar today for around 80 pounds,that is where the advancement has come,and reduced costs in drilling,not sure if the bit lasts any longer,but very much cheaper.
