I haven't been following the board closely of late as it matters little to my view on BPC so not sure if this has been mentioned.
Is it purely coincidence the Research & Survey vessel Thor Freyja, which is Bahamian flagged, is moored next to the Rainbow Warrior?
As with most things in life it is all too easy to look for and focus on the bad and sentiment here has taken a knock because of the news for legal proceedings. What we must remember is the flip side of that coin, that is how others perceive the chances of success of this drill - it has got people very worried.
To the environmental people who must scour and scrutinise these types of things that happen all over the world and have almost an infinite number to pick from and throw their resources at, this one has got them worried. They must think this has a very good chance of finding commercial oil in large quantities and they desperately want to nip this in the bud before it becomes Hobsons Choice for the people of the Bahamas when faced with nation changing, life improving, society lifting qualities.
See the legal challenges as further demonstration to the attributes and confidence of the project and believe in the professionalism an competence of the BoD of BPC, lets face it, they've had plenty of time to think this scenario through and they will have.
How does a young woman who skipped school and spends most of her life with a face like she’s chewing a wasp afford such a jet set, globe trotting life style? She buys on the dips, and if she feels like she missed out she creates one.
All the newbie BPC holders, if you dig out your Open Offer envelope and take a closer look inside you’ll find a secret compartment, in there are a pair of BPC standard issue clean knickers for just these occasions.
Nothing to see here, move on.
What does it actually say? It doesn't say anything really other than that everything is progressing as planned.
Starchild, if you ever want to know why people like Irene rip into you and tear you down you just have to read some of the rubbish you’ve written in this thread. My word.
Such an answer requires a crystal ball and if such a thing exists I’d be using it to find a cure for cancers and disease.
And Irene’s itchy fanny and stubbly top lip.
Thanks gentleman and no worries Linton, you are a very valued commentator. I think it was yourself who first posted the Tribune (or Guardian?) article where Mr Bethal made the slip of the tongue on drilling back around Feb ‘19 was it?
I remember the market was sleeping that day, took a good hour or so before people read it and I think we jumped into the 3’s.
I still think the Attorney General was right in what he said that day, even though he shouldn’t have said it. That said, I think we got a placing fairly hot off the back of it :-(
Without doubt it’s been a difficult share to hold this one, a pure roller coaster with years of ups and downs. I think it’s moved a lot of people to a mental place they never thought they could get to, or never wanted to go and now we are on the very verge of completing this journey, which for many will be a huge relief, we get a COVID vaccine and stocks are performing well everywhere. It must be further torture to consider briefly exiting this to chase a bit of money elsewhere with the fear news on the IceMAX or farm-in could drop.
What a journey. I honestly daren’t be out of this now.
Let’s hope we all do well out of it at the end. Good luck everyone.
It doesn’t matter to whether BPC will drill or not Ross, that was my point if you look back.
Irene, yes you do owe me an apology because i provided you with the time (c. 6 mins 30) of the second time Simon says what we quoted. So i'm waiting on TWO things from you. You do dig holes for yourself.
Irene,
I still haven't heard from you on the bet?
I'll have above £225m market cap at close of business on day of spud, as stated on Google finance. You can have below.
If there's no farm-in the bet is cancelled.
So the permutations are:
Above £225m market cap & farm-in = Irene £225 to charity
Above £225m market cap & no farm-in = bet cancelled.
Below £225m market cap & no farm-in = Jim £225 to charity
Below £225m market cap & farm-in = bet cancelled. (Almost impossible to see how this permutation could happen)
Trek, my choice of words shouldn't concern you, i'm only putting into writing my thoughts in a way that doesn't make it sound like i'm saying things will definitely happen and that they are my opinions and that would be in keeping with the rules of this board. Would it have read better to you if i'd have used 'believe'? I obviously can't use absolute terms like 'know' because the truth is i don't.
I'm confident in the opinions i expressed earlier in this thread and as i have posted before, it seems impossible to have gone drilling in Q1 2020 without a farm-in partner. We had so much left to do in such little time the drill couldn't have gone ahead without someone else looking after these aspects. If people believe we weren't going drilling then they must believe the company were lying and therefore this would be no place for your money. I have bought more in recent weeks because i really do believe we're in for a pleasant surprise, and a well deserved one at that.
I can't disagree i think they were happy to miss their stop on the gravy train and stayed on a bit longer. I understand the challenges they have faced but i still believe plans could have been enacted earlier, maybe with the benefit of hindsight they may admit this themselves? The buying and constant spinning of CERP does dent any perceived integrity i must admit and it's all too easy to see the bigger reason for buying CERP which will never be spoken about or pumped by the company and its toe-curling embarrassing watching people talk about it like the Emperors New Clothes. CERP does have a purpose though but that is not and never will be a needle mover for us PI's. It ensures for things like the company to still exist on a poor outcome on P#1 and all the things that allows for.
P.S. I'm certainly no high roller although i was looking to leave a few million in for drill results this might end up being pretty much the full amount as the downward pressure from mass selling on the SP is going to be truly enormous. Unless that is people see much of a life after P#1, and no i don't mean Cerpes, i'm talking P#2 with a major. A commitment for a second well, be that a P#2 or an agreement from a major to cover the appraisal well(s) will put a lot of people in a top-slicing spin.
A view that is widely shared and agreed upon by most BPC investors is that the company has been pretty awful with its updates and communications. In the times people have been able to speak with the company on this issue, either at AGM’s or phone calls with Ben, the company have often stated their reason for this is to not appear misleading and build false hope.
In that respect the recent sound bites from Eytan stating ‘Watch This Space’ and comments from Simon implying the well is almost a dead cert by wildcat standards is very out of keeping with the companies prior ‘conscience’, for those who believe such a thing exists. There are a lot disingenuous executives on AIM but i don’t think that is the case here, I think they have integrity.
So when prominent individuals in the company make the statements like they have done to the unsophisticated retail investor community, one which could easily misinterpret such communications and risk more than they can afford to lose, I think the company have some significant substance we will soon find out and their conscience is clear from the recent deliberate statements.
I look forward to the weeks ahead.
My strong hunch is still on a farm-in prior to spud with Exxon being the lead runner.
Good luck everyone.
Garry,
To be fair to Irene i wouldn't say she deramps a lot, she just says things a lot don't want to hear and again to be fair, some of this is much closer to the real world than some of the ramping talk. That's the way life is.
Irene, try 6:41.
Are you happy you're up a reasonable amount today? Still waiting on our combined bet answer by the way.
Irene, if you think the combination of words "we're thinking about..." is a future context statement then you are clutching at straws my dear.
we're thinking about = we are thinking about
That is to me and most others i suspect, is a statement that at least two parties are thinking, in the present (not at some point in the future) about how to appraise the 80km long structure. Used in conjunction with the 'phone ringing off the hook' means these parties are often talking about it - past and present. No future looking statement made there.
You should be happy Irene, you will make more money if they surprise you with a farm-in. It's not going to be a surprise for me though so it might take the edge off it a bit.
Oh sweet, sweet Irene. Lesson from Jimbo... go and listen to Malcy interview again and note down the TWO times they talk about the phone 'ringing off the hook."
I'm disappointed with your sparring Irene, i expect better. I'll accept apology when you send it, i'll wait patiently.
I would suggest you open your eyes then Irene, and also ears. Simon said, and i quote, his "...phone has been ringing off the hook in how to appraise an 80km long structure." Who do you think has been calling him about how to move into an appraisal phase, Starfish? The preplanning is well (pun intended) underway!
Out of interest, what do you think BPC and the exclusive major talked abut for 4 weeks at the cost of 1 million dollars? Could they have talked about what a well would look like and where? Maybe they just drew stumps on the commercial aspect which BPC have now backed-up on their side of the fence with now being fully funded?
Drill is happening, Farm-in is happening, in my opinion.
Irene,
How about we combine our bets?
I'll have above £225m market cap at close of business on day of spud, as stated on Google finance. You can have below.
If there's no farm-in the bet is cancelled.
So the permutations are:
Above £225m market cap & farm-in = Irene £225 to charity
Above £225m market cap & no farm-in = bet cancelled.
Below £225m market cap & no farm-in = Jim £225 to charity
Below £225m market cap & farm-in = bet cancelled. (Almost impossible to see how this permutation could happen)
pt, hope that was said in jest? If not then please reach out for help if things get you down. There's always a way out.
