Looking back to January '23 we are due an update on BP. Where VAST is concerned "no news is often bad news". Fingers crossed that's not the case in January '24. JJ

The market expects a lot of M&S right now. The words will be as important as the figures. If the message is that we are likely to be buffeted by further inflationary pressures then we could see a 3/5% drop. I will be here with my coffee from 7am. JJ

The markets are forward looking and the suggestion is that the cost of our imports could be on the rise owing to the wider impacts of the war by Israel and the dramatic rise in the cost of container shipping. Maybe MKS should get back to selling more product made here in the UK. It was once their USP. JJ

Getting rid of the government holding can be seen in a very positive light. The impact of any discount will be a temporary issue and should be of no real concern to those who want to hold onto their NWG shares. JJ

You surely don't believe it was an offer; more likely a discussion with no figures to support, consequently no reason why shareholders should expect a RNS. I would not place much credence to what 'Bob' has to say. JJ

Pidge, good morning. The figures you gave of 6% & 9.7% didn't excite me. I'm assuming these are in comparison with '22 and might be attributed to inflation. They don't suggest to me that you were selling more i.e. volume not increased. If these figures are true of MKS as a whole I would expect the share price to drop back after the trading update. Any thoughts? JJ

Svend, for example 11 Dec. 290p, 15 Dec. 282p. Plenty of other 'bumps' in the last 20 weeks. JJ

Svend, it has not been "on a constant rise" you only need to look back at the 3 & 6 month charts.

Who knows where this will end up, but if you managed to cash some today with a nice profit then very well done. JJ

It doesn't include M&S so we can ponder whether we can outdo Sains. and Tsco on %gains on food sales; also whether clothing has substantially added to the picture. Me I'm bullish and suggest that the share price will continue rising between now and Thursday next week. JJ

They have excelled but much of it can be put down to the effects of inflation on the cost of a basket of goods. Fully expect the M&S customers to have splurged on their food to impact the bottom line here. Not long to wait for the actual figures. JJ
