C909, Interesting you put the 2 issues that way round. I agree but think they are probably the other way round, with financial uncertainty the key issue here. EQT have repeatedly got their cash flow wrong and have had to correct (in a detrimental way to shareholders) several times since I've been looking. And as you say, they don't seem to have the courage to front up and say "we've made mistakes, here's the new plan and if it doesn't work I'll resign."
You could argue that Amati bailing is the result of this.

Many posts on here have referred to the seemingly ludicrous number of EQTEC shares in issue.
Is there any sound reason why the company didn't previously consider a 1 for 10 consolidation? Did they think the new higher price may deter new investors temporarily and may make any future placings look a bit expensive when compared with previous ones? Surely institutional investors can work that out themselves.
I realise it's not currently possible given reference to share price in recent loan / drawdown facility but surely at some stage we need to get away from Mickey Mouse numbers and back to a realistic number of shares in issue.

Many of Boyo's excellent charts have shown the divergence between Shell and US oilers Oxy and Chevron.
What they didn't show was that since 2020 Berkshire have been buying both, to the extent they now hold 8% of Chevron and 24% of Occidental. If we'd had a fund building that sort of stake in Shell over such a short timeframe the SP would have been higher irrespective of Brent prices and dividends.

I check the rate in the highest savings account vs the DEC dividend to answer that one.
SP has been in the 100 to 130 range for a couple of years now so if you can buy at the lower end of that it looks advantageous. But what do I know? I bought Northern Rock shares!

Guess as they never know whether they’re going to get paid month to month it makes sense to keep several months of operating costs and dividends in the petty cash.
If they’d paid down the debt, hadn’t been paid by KRG for a few months and had to cut the dividend imagine what the share price would be!
Don’t think Genel can be run as a normal company given uncertainty over payments from a very unreliable single customer.

Pernix - your previous posts claimed you sold on 28 June and smugly bought back in on 29 June - how come you're now in cash or do you only post profitable trades in hindsight (or imaginary ones)?
If you're going to post lots to look clever then reads your old posts first!
In terms of RNS, GAFG is correct, detailing impairments this quarter deflects from profits and removes spotlight / WFT interest - those who understand appreciate this hence the rise in SP today.

It would be nice if the Genel IR team got off their lazy, overpaid arsed and gave us investors some information on this.
Perhaps all those who have posted links recently should claim a day’s worth of consultancy fees from Genel for doing their job for them.

Don't think there's anything but risk in there.
Risk of G getting caught up in the middle of yet another political spat between KRG and Iraq.
Risk of KRG not having any money to settle outstanding debt.
Risk of KRG not having any money to pay any arbitration settlement over BB PSC.
Risk of Baghdad taking over existing oil contracts on new (and obviously less favourable) terms.

Doing the opposite of what the Fools at Motley do is an excellent strategy.

Seems a slightly optimistic approach.
Surely if dividend is 4% and inflation is 10% you need to be increasing your target price by 6% every year, not decreasing it.

Don't see how a tax would increase "refinery capacity and output in the near term."
A tax cut would be a better way of achieving that particular aim.
Suspect oil price fell as it was implied production would ramp up further (same demand, more supply normally means lower prices).

mmm HL won't quote me a buy price for any more than 2000 shares today. I was hoping for 10,000 but don't want 5 lots of dealing costs.

I've got buy orders in at 0.77 and 0.75 - let's see how desperate the MMs are to offload today's sells.

Genel’s investor relations team have been abysmal for years. They don’t trumpet the good news, they don’t explain the bad news, in fact I question what they do at all.
Nothing on E&P activity, nothing on arbitration, nothing on Board moves and nothing future plans.
