BBG, its not quite a fantastic market comparable, as you will have to take into account country risk. From possibly the best country risk to one thats a lot nearer the bottom. a factor of 2, 5 10? I have no idea, but I do know its not 1 for 1. Then factor in mine costs, infrastructure , recovery rates, metallurgy etc etc.

But it probably makes 7p cheap, I will give you that.

Morning Colonel. If you want some further evidence of where we are in the mining cycle, Northern Star bid for DeGrey today. A$5bn (albeit paper) for a deposit without a mine and with no processing plant but some infrastructure. While Australian assets will no doubt trade at multiples of Ecuadorean ones, it might give some kind of look through to a large copper/gold deposit.

Quicker we get that ASX listing the better. Don’t want to miss the party….

I have voted in favour of all resolutions. However, although my holding is substantially larger than our resident nutter here, it will be irrelevant in the scheme of things. Scott will sail through, as he should.

Bozi, in adding to your post below. I believe that if a new CEO came in when the sp was say 7.5p, he/she, and a few others, would think that they had done a great job if they managed to flush out a bid at say 20p. Is that what people want?

Martin, it was approx 0.20 shares of Ariana per Sve share but this has taken much longer than expected so I fear it will be less than that.

I have found 11 companies exempt from stamp.

They are:

Glen, Bme, iwg , Lre, hsx, phnx, expn, iag, 3in, ptec, and BHP. These are companies that do not maintain a shareholder register here.

Even an old fogey like me can learn something every day!

Ben, I really don’t think this is true regarding Glencore. Maybe you bought Glencore on a foreign exchange? I am pretty sure all ETfs are stamp exempt, but I really don’t think any major company with a main listing is exempt, but I am not going to look at every company to check.

I agree Addicknt, and that’s why I am supporting Scott and his long(er) term plan. After all there is no sensible alternative. To those that think this is a lifestyle company, I wouldn’t go and live in Quito for $2m pa let alone $200k. To those that want this sold, there is no bid and no buyer atm. But the asset hasn’t gone anywhere, and the boxes are being ticked, just a bit slower than we all would want. Maybe gold will be $5000 and copper $15,000 by the time they are…..

Thanks MF11. Spud the issue regarding where the company does its business has nothing to do with the FTSE. My point was to do with IHT exemption or not.

Moving from Aim to the main market is quite possible. There are quite a few requirements, most of which would probably be complied with when Ggp goes on the ASX. It’s also more expensive to have a main listing. Plus of course investors will have to pay stamp tax on all purchases, whereas Aim is stamp free.

Shaun has previously stated that he would have considered the move prior to the changes the London Stock Exchange are about to implement, but now he is less sure if there is a need. Maybe if there were billions of pounds of investor money prevented from investing on Aim he could still be persuaded. Again the upcoming changes may make that moot too.

Quite happy to post here in support of Bozi, SM and NMM’s recent posts pushing back on our self appointed dear leader. I would just add to their list that the Noront situation was a one off and didn’t happen much before the Noront deal and hasn’t happened since. Wyloo have shown no inclination to buy anything in Ecuador and a deal that goes out at 4X the initial bid is very very rare.

The share has to 'qualify' to be IHT free. I looked into this some years ago. There are quite a few stipulations as I recall. I think one of them is that the company needs to trade in the UK, which GGP clearly doesnt. Not sure property companies count either from memory. It certainly isnt a blanket 'all AIM companies are IHT free' and is a general misconception.

There have been a couple of posts in the last 24 hours which are incorrect, so I will post the correct info.

1. Not all AIM stocks are IHT free and GGP is certainly not IHT free.

2. AIM stocks cant be part of the FTSE100, nor FTSE250.

3. Van Eck dont care whether their investments within the GDXJ make money or not. They are there to replicate the index that is all. To my knowledge they dont get rewarded per se for performance of the index, but obviously might attract more funds (and therefore more fees) should the index rise. They buy what they need when the index changes, regardless of where the price is, or the outlook for the business.

Consolidations have a bad reputation with some private investors mainly because most consolidations happen by failing companies on the way to going bust.

If you think that applies to GGP then I suggest you shouldnt invest or even hold.

This time its different. Very different.

Mather will go down in history as the guy in charge when Cascabel was discovered. So he might be a decent geologist and explorer. That doesnt make him a CEO, nor someone who can negotiate with majors. It turns out that he didnt have the necessary skills to do anything well, except possibly the exploration bit.

Bob has made a fool of himself, but he probably isnt that bothered, as he will think the ends justifies the means.

Scott is steadily ticking off all the boxes that Mather didnt even understand needed to be ticked off.

Unlike most of you, I have met Mather and had a 30min sit down 1 on 1 chat with him, albeit some years ago. My takeaway was that he was extremely arrogant and very easy to dislike. Turns out that he didnt have much to be arrogant about. Its quite possible that all majors who met him came to the same conclusion. I dont trust the bloke at all, but its just my opinion. To me Scott comes across as far more professional and believable, though I havent met the chap.
