Petebo,
Correct the prediction was made in 2014 and look where we are at now. Santa Cruz will out in a few months and the HTC Vive Pro is out now. Not a bad prediction IMHO
Apple is currently developing a VR/AR headset that utilizes both technologies and is powered by its proprietary chips, with a 2020 release window. The so-called “dream” headset will provide an 8K display in each eye and cameras that can detect your surroundings via a high-speed wireless box called the 60GHz WiGig.
The company boasts that the headset will provide technology that doesn’t exist on the market while the proprietary chips would utilize the 10-nanometer construction in the iPhone X‘s A11 Bionic processor. The project is speculated to be codenamed T288, and with its wireless headset and dedicated Wi-Fi tech, it could solve the VR market’s current issues with cumbersome product designs. Just take a minute for that to sink in. Watching your fav artist in 8K GLA
