Great Southern Copper PLC (LSE:GSCU) has reported highly encouraging results from its latest drilling at the Cerro Negro project in Chile.
The company has found copper, silver, and gold mineralisation extending beyond the historic Mostaza mine, confirming the potential for a much larger resource.
So far, eight drill holes have been completed, covering 867 metres.
Every hole has hit visible signs of copper, including veins and networks
of mineral-rich rock. One drill hole, CNG25 DD007, intersected 32 metres of high-grade copper mineralisation from a depth of 87 metres. Another hole, CNG25 DD001, confirmed the presence of 33 metres of copper at 0.53%, including 6 metres at 1.05% copper and 81 grams per tonne of silver, as well as 9 metres at 0.92% copper and 73 grams per tonne of silver.
The results also show that mineralisation extends at least 270 metres south of the mine. Step-out drilling suggests that Lens 2, a key copper-rich zone, continues at depth and could be getting thicker.
Samples from the first five drill holes have been sent for lab testing, with results expected soon. Drilling is ongoing as the company aims to define the full extent of the deposit, which could be a significant copper source as global demand rises.
CEO Sam Garrett said: "The progress to date is highly encouraging and is delivering exciting results which will positively impact our on-going exploration focus and plans at Mostaza and Cerro Negro."
