About Gasol plc Gasol plc's strategy is to provide African gas for the next generation. Power stations in West Africa currently operate predominantly on liquid fuels such as diesel, light crude and jet fuel, but many of these plants are also capable of using gas. Gasol will initially supply these customers with gas from regasified Liquefied Natural Gas ("LNG"), which can provide significant cost savings in the order of 20 to 30 per cent. This involves the delivery of LNG to leased Floating Storage and Regasification Facilities which will be positioned in Cotonou harbour, Benin and will supply the regasified LNG into the West African Gas Pipeline. The strategic alliance is a key development for Gasol, as it means that Dredging International is the sole interface for the contracting works with single point responsibility. Elsewhere in the sector, RBS was slapped with a £390m ($610m) LIBOR-related fine from both US and UK authorities after a report found 'serious failures in the controls and risk management systems RBS had in place'. The group agreed to pay penalties of £87.5m, $325m, and $150m to the Financial Services Authority (FSA), Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and Department of Justice (DOJ), respectively. The company said it has entered into a deferred prosecution agreement in relation to one count of wire fraud relating to Swiss Franc LIBOR and one count for an antitrust violation relating to Yen LIBOR. RBS Securities Japan has also agreed to enter a plea of guilty to one count of wire fraud relating to Yen LIBOR.

The financial service sector was led higher by Hargreaves Lansdown on Wednesday after the company posted record revenues and profits for the second half of 2012, driven by a boost in client numbers. The FTSE 100 group said revenue was up 24% to £140.3m, while profit before tax rose 30% to £93.7m. The group's total net business inflows for the six months jumped 42% to £1.65bn and total assets under administration increased by 16% to £30.4bn. The total interim dividend increased by 24% to 6.3p per share, compared to 5.1p for the same period a year earlier. Chief Executive Officer Ian Gorham said Hargreaves flew in the face of a global financial crisis with an expanding customer base, particularly in its 'investment supermarket' service Vantage which grew by 21,000 clients to 446,000 over the period. "Despite continued economic uncertainty in the UK, Hargreaves Lansdown has had the scale, financial strength and market presence to continue to improve its position. Clients appreciate our excellent value, service and informed comment," he said.

"The principal drivers of our healthcare business are performing to expectation with the number of new HealthRoster customers remaining strong; the continuing 100% close rate on HealthRoster renewals; the rapid growth of the Cloud business and the continued adoption of Allocate RealTime Patient Flow application within the HealthRoster customer base."

Allocate Software, supplier of workforce management tools, on Tuesday reported a drop in earnings for the half-year. The AIM listed company said adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation fell 62.5% to �0.6m in the six months to November 2012. A diluted adjusted loss of 0.1p earnings per share (EPS) was posted, compared to a 1.8p EPS in the comparative period. That despite a slight 0.62% increase in revenues to �16.1m, driven by strong trading of products and new subscriptions. Operating cash flows were also up 0.5% to �0.9m with a gross cash balance of �6.1m, up from �4.0m in the previous year. The firm's products including the HealthRoster roster system and the Allocate Clinical Staff Planning application helped drive revenues in the period along with business in Australia and Sweden. "I am pleased with the overall performance in the first half, particularly after such a slow start in the first quarter," said Ian Bowles, Chief Executive Officer of Allocate.

Lo-Q said Wednesday it secured a deal to install its trademark virtual queuing system at Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark in Pennsylvania. The Q-band - a waterproof radio-frequency identification wristband - will be used at the themepark allowing guests to queue virtually for slides without having to stand in line. Users select their desired ride from self-service kiosks located around the park and are notified by their wristband when it's their turn to ride. The product will be aimed at improving services at Camelbeach waterpark which has 37 slides and attractions as part of a five year contract. Lo-Q's queuing system has been taken up at a number of US water parks operators. The new deal marks the fourteenth water park globally to integrate the Q-band.

Mediterranean Oil & Gas on Wednesday revealed 'excellent' results from a production test of its Civita 1 well in the Aglavizza concession in Italy. The AIM-listed company said a three-step test on the prospect was completed last week, confirming production potential. The first stage included a five-hour production flow test which achieved a stabilised flow rate of 50,3000 standard cubic meters (scm) a day with negligible water production. The second part included another five-hour test which showed a rate of 27,700 scm/day followed by a final stage test which produced a rate of 12,200 scm/day. The company said the results confirmed excellent permeability and "no near-well bore formation damage".
