I have to say I find a lot of this chat very offensive...I've invested a fair bit here but I spend more time wondering if Ukrainians i've worked with are still alive than i do imagining how war and peace affect my profit/loss.
The idea of a swift end to this war by any means is a chimera - it will go on an on, as long as Putin is in charge he will not be sated and the Ukrainians will not give up
RNS 7th December
Active discussions are being maintained with counterparties in Hong Kong and Russia
That's what I'm referring to, not something I've dreamt up. We wait on processes going on in the background and won't find out who and how much until an offer can be recommended.
Offler thanks but I think sarcasm suits me fine.
M+A processes often take longer than that and as I've said I think the original buyer withdrew the proposal and it's the Hong Kong and Russian parties now negotiating under the fresh NDAs
Personally I think the buyer/buyers changed because of the war, the price will be lower and there may be some hardball negotiations going on for a while. Not much we can do about that with Putin still on the warpath. After the tax win I think someone will buy the assets though.
How you daily posters have the stamina to argue the same thing all day every day defeats me
Tim - presumably you think all the Ukrainians who don't want to be enveloped by Putin's Russia should just stop moaning and conform with your august wisdom. There are real people fighting and dying for the freedom they wish to keep
Dattabase - I know who the Azov regiment are and I've seen films about rogue Ukraine militias operating in Donbas 8 or 9 years ago. I know there is propaganda and violence on both sides.
What Putin is doing by unleashing all of his military force is still horrific - it will take generations to repair, possibly never. If you can't see that you really are blind.
Dattabase - I'm not going to get into a long debate with you as I don't think you're fully compus mentus.
Try thinking about how the words "such restraint" can be used to refer to a land invasion, ceaseless bombing and the illegal imposition of collective punishment on an entire nation. Thermobaric bombs, landmines, abduction of children, targeting of hospitals.
What would constitute a lack of restraint?
Putin already used polonium over here so plus there is the list of oligarchs who got on the wrong side of him so it's not a new picture.
This one is more likely to backfire on him at home, it shows he was afraid of a leader who could actually get voted in. Putin may not be bothered about the body bags coming back from Ukraine but his voters are and will not support endless mobilisation and propaganda when you get killed for dissent at home
RNS 7th Dec
"It is important to emphasise that, despite the now extended timeline, active discussions are maintained with counterparties based in Hong Kong and Russia"
Followed by the disclaimer "but as yet no terms have been agreed and, as ever, there can be no guarantee EUA will enter into binding agreements"
Since then the tax case has been won and NDAs wouldn't cover an update on those discussions. The "Buyer" in the time of the FSP (who presumably aborted upon the start of Ukraine) was described as having completed DD and NDAs didn't cover that.
I'd rather get details of which counterparties are at the table, if they are in the process of DD and when a conclusion is likely to be made.
These are all mentioned in previous RNS so I don't see why they couldn't be updated
