I am fully researched here. I have a daughter working on an ICU as we speak. Protocol, capacity and PPE are her main concerns. All the noise around testing is unhelpful and a red herring. Government policy has been to keep people away from hospitals and to self isolate with symptoms. That is the correct policy. Those with CV in the health service at the moment are just as likely to have picked it up before the lockdown like the rest of us. We now enter a period where the virus peaks..testing will now become relevant as we need as many fit people back at work as possible. Your brush with celebrity and your wish to sell more kits is driving your posting, not a desire to help those on the front line. As for NCYT they’re doing a great job in scaling up to meet the demand, I am not sure they’ll be able to do it and that’s why a TO is inevitable IMO

Lp just give it a rest. What are you trying achieve. Follow the guidance you've been given by the government and let the scientists and the the health professionals do their job. Obvious to me where your politics come from so don't play the I just thought you should know game. Play ground stuff.

The reality is ...I am not on the front line. I am just doing what I am told because it is the best option. My daughter is very close to it at the moment and physios like doctors and nurses have a big part to play in saving lives and making sure that when people do recover they have a life worth living. Protocols, PPE and capacity are a lot more important than testing as far as I am being told. Keeping the otherwise fit and healthy out of hospital has been the governments policy and I agree with that.

My daughter is a physiotherapist....who has been moved to the suspected CV ward to assist with respiration. She has all the PPE she needs and is happy with the protocols she has been asked to follow. She has not been tested yet. Nurses and doctors on the ward have been tested first. My cousin is a senior nurse and is on CPU, she has the equipment she needs and has been tested. They both haven't got time to listen to people point scoring. They are gearing up to be very busy.

JohnHenry, how do you know that Germany have got it right. Only time will tell. They are a couple of weeks behind the uk in terms of the spread. Italy , France and Spain all tested more in the early stages. Brought people into hospitals that should have been at home and look at the terrible state they are in. You either trust that we have the best scientists in the world or you dont.

Rainbird3 so wrong. Do you think all the 20% of frontline staff contracted the virus from patients. They contracted it like the rest of us in the pub, in the restaurant on a bus ,in a shop. Social distancing is working. PPE is required of course it is, but I give up with trying to talk to a bunch of politically motivated idiots.

Totally agree..capacity was the priority and it looks like we are nearly there. Next phase is to get those back to work who can do safely and then monitor infection going forward. At last someone who gets it!!!

Give it a rest...the government has not got it ‘all wrong’ it’s got nearly everything right. Testing will not prevent the virus spreading. That’s all about social distancing. My cousin and daughter both on the frontline today in hospitals in the Uk. Proud of the work they are doing and feeling positive about their ability to handle the crisis. Signing off here today as I've made my point.

So the WHO has better scientists than the uk? This country has some of the best scientists on the planet and they are advising the government. The same WHO that doesn't recognise Taiwan as its in the pocket of China!! Give it a rest

You don't get it....test,test,test is not the government policy. The policy has been from the start if you are showing symptoms that you should stay at home and only if your symptoms become worse should you call 111. Mass testing in the early stages puts pressure on hospitals and brings those exhibiting symptoms together with many others. In Italy they encouraged testing and they gave those with a positive test a hospital bed to isolate them., they ran out of capacity at the critical time and the government have learnt from it. Lack of testing equipment is fake news on behalf of the government as only now as they have created capacity are they interested in doing some. The testing of front line staff is to make sure that the 20% of nhs workforce who are currently at home with symptoms can return to work, as they are neede, it's not a protection as suggested by the press. PPE is the only thing that protects.

The government has over a 70% approval rating and it thoroughly deserves it. Hospitals being built in days, daily honest appraisal of the situation and a country united in battling this awful virus. The science is changing daily and we need to accept the liquidity of the situation. Those on this board who are enjoying reading the spew coming out of some political journalists are showing what a bunch of self interested morons you really are....as for novacyt they have like the government done everything in their power to ensure our health service has access to the kit they need.
