Cyan would need to convince Deloitte that it will be able to make the 'thing' in question and make a profit from the sales of it, which is why the report says 'taking professional advice'. There's no guarantee that Deloitte will agree.

The 'development' bit of R&D can be capitalised if it is technically feasible and commercially viable. Cyan would need to be certain that it will be able to both:

* make the 'thing' in question.
* make a profit from the sales of the 'thing'.

Where both of these criteria are met, Cyan will capitalise the development costs as an intangible asset.

Cyan will then depreciate the 'development' expenditure over the period for which sales of the 'thing' are expected to be generated.

The logic behind this treatment is an attempt to match the 'development' expenditure with the income that will be generated from the sales of the 'thing' in the P&L account.

Sorry, I was going by the LSE directors' dealings tab above, not the their RNSs. However, 14 months or 9 months makes little difference really.

That's not how I remember JC's statement re. the £200M valuation and I have a pretty good memory for such things. If I could be bothered, I'd find you the clip.

If his aspirations have increased (to a thirty bagger for example), it makes even less sense not to have be added at some point during the last 7 months, while the SP has been on its ar5e. Unless, of course, he anticipates/knows that he will be able to buy even lower soon.

Cyan is a disaster zone and to think that JC, SS & HB helped themselves to £1M of the company's cash in 2017 is a complete disgrace.

JC's 2.4M shares have 'cost' him £886K and are now valued at £217K - down £669K or -75%.

SS's 1.2M shares 'cost' him £540K and are now valued at £107K - down £433K or -80%.

Oh dear.

JC & HB have had ample opportunity to add, if they really thought it was an investment worth making.
