The Supreme Court has issued another order ruling that ZANU-PF mines minister Mpofu return diamonds to the central bank.

The court had, in an interim ruling earlier this month, said all diamonds from the Marange area in eastern Zimbabwe should be held in the central bank until ownership of two of the diamond sites had been resolved by chief justice Godfrey Chidyausiku.

The stones are roughly valued at about $18 million (£15m), according to diamond buyers in London.

Valuation was sight unseen based on the average price for Zimbabwe Diamonds per carat of $134, in 2024 the average price was $93 per carat average for every single diamond sold from Zimababwe v $650 for Namibian Diamonds............

Not unless we mined them in Namiba, be a very pleasant surprise but based on Zim prices over the years, nowhere near that high..........AP valued them verbally when expecting 14% to be Gem quality at £15m, said on the day the parcel now worth more than the London market value the company, had dipped just below £15m that day.

Now saying Gem % around double what he expected, can't see that shooting us to more than £30m double his expectation at the time..........GLALTH

Especially with that sale in Dubai last year the Minister commented on his disappointment, mixed parcel , he was expecting to get $100-$105 per carat ave for the latest parcel and got just over $85.....

We all hope and pray for a DIAMOND in all that rough, probably too much to ask for a blue, one pulled out of Marange a while ago, single stone sale over $14m but based on 20 years of Zim production and prices from Marange, Namibian prices on a wish and a prayer.........

The majority of our parcel remains in the dross/industrial zim $20-$50 range, so its down to the 36k of Gemstone to make a cracking return in total, hopefully with an overall ave above that ALL Zim ave 2024 $93 a carat

AFCR (Now Vast) not the only company that had diamonds confiscated in 2006, that total removal was rumoured to be worth around $800m - $1 billion, Vast just one part of the Mugabe Marange take away.

That's the multi million dollar question m8, reading one earlier, it had Marange diamonds displayed and was about 20-25 different grades for them, then more for other types of better quality gemstones, we have no idea, what our 36k of gem quality entail, all low quality , or high, prices vary immensely.

AP was expecting around 14% of the parcel to be above the industrials (typical of the area) we now know it double that, so all fits with his exceeds comments but until he releases an RNA update over GNW/rns it all guesswork, what is not is his statement back then of his expectation to be £15m, so for me anything above that will be a bonus for vast and us.

The main driver remains, clear the debt and his long time valuation of his company of over $200m , might just become a reality........he made those statements , before Tajikistan and Hanes came along, so why not change the $ to £200m, with all the additions since..........GLALTH

Zimbabwe sold 380 000 carats at the Dubai tender raking in US$29.2 million.

All the seven diamond mining companies in Marange participated at the inaugural diamond tender in Dubai, achieving an average price of US$76 per carat which was a 5.4 percent improvement on the second Antwerp sale which achieved US$72 per carat.

In a statement, the Minister of Mines and Mining Development, Walter Chidhakwa said out of a total value of US$29.2 million realised, government earned US$4.3 million from royalties.

Zimbabwe is believed to have 30 percent of the world's diamond reserves and the transparent trading is expected to boost the country's liquidity position.
