Moderna has filed a $500 mill equity offering last night :
Moderna expects to use the net proceeds of the offering to fund clinical development and drug discovery in existing and new therapeutic areas; to fund further development of its mRNA technology platform and the creation of new modalities; and the remainder to fund working capital and other general corporate purposes.
Well perhaps they also would be looking to expand their license deal with Avacta.

At the recent JP Morgan Healthcare Conference Daewoong Pharmaceutical CEO, Dr Seng-ho Jeon, presented the joint venture between Avacta and Daewoong - to develop the next generation of stem cell therapies that secrete Affimer proteins to enhance their immunomodulatory effects.

Today we have seen Glaxo and Merck both announcing spinouts and focussing on oncology , vaccines etc
while consumer healthcare will be a separate company, Just shows you the majors are upping the game and focussing on the growth pillars, like Oncology.
Hence we see further JV’s , license deals and equity investments in these growth companies.
Again look at the valuations the US market are applying to those companies.
More IPO’s on it’s way and fund raising with plenty of capital knocking on the door.

Another sign that funds are returning to the Biotech sector and IPO’s, is to look at the precision oncology medicine company Black Diamond Therapeutics, pioneering the discovery and development of small molecule Tumor-agnostics therapies.IPO yesterday, oversubscribed and open up 108%.
Avacta with it’s continued positive news flow will be as attractive and 2020 will be a year when you will find funds will begin to use read across valuations and the majors will take an even more active role in the oncology area.

The pipeline is exceptional and growing fast,with clinical trials starting 2Q.
Look at the TMAC video, the test results are quite exceptional vs Merck’s and Pfizer’s.
Newsflow going forward in Q1/2 will be quite something and the current valuation puts the company on a ridiculous cheap valuation vs the US peer group.
However the Koreans wants to join the party and have the resources and capital.
The have chosen Avacta and they can see what can be achieved.
Hence the likes of Astra Zeneca etc. are linking up with the likes of LG Chem and Daewoong, as this is unique opportunity for example for AZN to participate and benefit from Daewong’s MSC therapeutic platform which the Koreans have made a JV with Avacta.
Avacta have now got JV deals with LG Chem , Daewoong, ADC and Moderna.
All of which AZN has a JV and or Shareholding in.
They would have noticed Avacta by now.

You rarely see that sort of confident language being used by a CEO, but watch the videos having been made the company and on their website and see what spectacular results having been achieved pre clinical, it certainly looks to be a very interesting 2020 with a complete re valuation of the company and with more commercial deals to be announced.

Indeed, more buying interest than sellers in the afternoon and post hours.
