Am slightly bored and was looking through Damien Sanders linked in where he writes about becoming CFO. He is a clearly respected character with lots of other CFOs and others congratulating him.
It's probably not connected to THG but someone called Philip Noblet who is the head of UK/Ireland investment banking for Jefferies also commented "congratulations Damien" and Damien replies to him "Cheers Philip, looking forward to working with you and to The Ivy in a couple of weeks".
The Phil guy liked the recent MM post about his son and also a boohoo post so could be involved in e commerce in some way?

THG's IPO is often talked about as a failure with the 500p price being too high but it doesn't really appear the IPO pricing was wrong considering it rose to 800p in a few months and then remained in a 580p - 650p range for about a year after IPO.

I did wonder if it was sarcastic or maybe he actually liked what Matt wrote so was saying good story despite her framing it negatively in the tweet. Would be surprised if he had completed pivoted on THG/MM.

This sun journalist Ashley Armstrong tweeted about MM's linked in post in regards to the share dilution. Look at the comments though, all sarcastic ones from other journalists. Does feel like there is still a strange obsession from many journalists. Weirdly at the end Sir Tom Hunter comments "good story Ashley".

"Big week for our family, with the youngest in our clan undergoing one of his many operations in his 12 young years to date!

Huge thanks to the world-class team at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, one of the causes we're proud to support via our Family Foundation. His operation seems to have been another success, like the ones before.

His operation clashed with our monthly PLC Board meet. I never thought to switch the Board meet date as diary dates and NED travel are booked many months in advance. So, I headed off to work as usual while Jodie did the hard yards at the hospital.

One of the biggest downsides of my relationship with THG is that I’m rarely at the hospital for these things. No excuses really, we should all do better to step up and prioritise family over work, especially at key moments. I will do better.

However, I am super blessed. If I ever get down thinking about any injustices in the world, I get to walk through my front door every single day and be greeted by a true warrior in our 12-year-old.

Very few have this in their lives, and it doesn't half give you that extra bit of motivation that most people will never have.

I've found the single best way of handling any challenges is to view them as an afront against loved ones, instead of myself. It moves my mindset from 'Victim' to 'Protector'.

I didn't miss a day at the hospital for nothing, and so I will make it count.

A good day, NASDAQ up, energy prices falling again.
US Natural gas is now down 47% on a year ago...also last year it doubled in price from this date up to June due to Ukraine. Therefore if it stays this low it will be a major drag on inflation going forward.

Nasdaq recovering well from the slightly disappointing big tech results. Apple red to green.

In terms of the macro you could argue this might be the best things can be with the impossible situation of trying to have inflation fall while not having too bad a recession.
I believe inflation will still fall due to the large fall in energy prices (and the comps with the high prices from last year). The good jobs doesn't help but most of the inflation was driven by energy prices. The good jobs does lessen the recession fear however.

I understand that HH. It's just I believe there was a jobs report recently indicating jobs had fallen and the market fell so some had started to speculate that bad news was bad news again but it seems we are back to good news = bad news. You could argue though the people have more money for buying THG products? lol

I thought good news had become good news? It seems good news is still bad news with the jobs report.

Is the US automated warehouse fed into that 15% or could that help further?

Perhaps we'll be in retirement homes watching online as MM at 98 years old is wheeled out to do an update and is asked when he will give up the golden share and if there had been any offers for nutrition. MM stumbles on his words but this time you're not sure if it's just his age.

Jimmy I'd say in terms of whey prices they probably fell too late in 2022 to make a material difference and the results so far were looking backwards with no EBITDA prediction for this year so until we get the official EBITDA prediction we can't know the impact of the reduced whey. Though I believe Okehurst quoted a source that they were forecasting a 15% EBITDA margin for nutrition which would indeed show the impact of the whey fall.

The Netherlands one that updates Weds also had a drop. But there is another index for whey futures I believe which apparently had a rise.

Lets hope the whey futures increase was due to THG putting in a giant order at the lows lol. Wholesale food prices in general are slightly in retreat I'd say, milk and cheese whole price is now below where it was a year ago and significantly below where price got to in June 22. Can't see a particular reason why whey should climb back up high unless energy prices got very high again.
