De Grey didn’t have “the money in the bank” but secured financial debt backing by producing a business case, and they have to build all the infrastructure and processing plant.

Shaun had 5-6 financial gurus in his team along with a very strong legal team. Dean Horton left FMG and has been bought in to broker the deal possibly influenced by Elizabeth Gains. If SD can’t pull this deal off with the likes of Gains and Barnaba ( SD and Barnaba were with Albanese on Tuesday), I’ll be amazed.

We have been busy digesting earnings, combing through news releases and putting boots on the ground. As we expected, earnings reports from most of the gold miners are starting to show significant margin expansion in the second quarter. And, in our view, the second half of this year may show additional earnings growth for some of the miners.

We first referenced the rotation trade in July of last year. We were early of course, but it seems smart money has finally started to move. Wall Street insiders are no fools. They have been steadily taking paper money gains from the high-growth tech sector. And some are putting that money into hard assets like gold and real estate.

Al Jazeera reports Bezos intends to sell nearly $5bn worth of shares, after having sold $8.5bn in February. According to 13F filings, Bill Gates has been selling his own stock over the past two quarters. In 13D filings, Zuckerberg has been consistently selling his own stock.

Berkshire Hathaway, Duquesne Family Trust, Pershing Square and Blackrock have all been trimming tech stocks, according to their most recent 13F filings. Idle cash does not sit still for long.

So if SD gets the debt financing to purchase Hav & Telfer I would estimate our capex will be circa £1 billion. If the maths for 7 million Au ounces = $1000 clear profit then even the dumbest can work out the potential. Hence the FUD attention
