i think you are absolutely right - by attempting to compete on price with lidl aldi and tesco sainsbury actually boost their competitors by implying there is little difference in their products stores or service -.For many years , like waitrose or marks and spencers, sainburys was viewed rightly or wrongly as a premium brand . They seem to have done their very best to throw away this massive edge.
