Hi Tegop - it's hard to tell as the breakdown in the monthly reports is not clear. For 2022 as a whole they made an adjusted loss before tax of around $900m with I presume the adjustments allowing for exceptional legal fees. Interest was about $400m so clearly some way off the pace even allowing for Ch 11 costs and interest.

For this year it's more difficult to say but I would expect July to be profitable with Barbie and Oppenheimer and that's after interest and legal costs. April was also relatively good with Mario. They need that every month though.

The bigger problem for us though is that it is too late to matter anyway in terms of our shareholding. As I think you said the die is already cast. Any upswing now will just benefit newco and their shareholders. The only way it might help us is if it spurs someone to make a last minute, outrageous bid of $7bn plus. Unlikely! The only other way that I can see us retaining anything is if the CINE shell we are left with is worth something after all (which I believe is your hypothesis though one I don't share but could easily be wrong).

In the meantime though there may still be trading opportunities for the gamblers and though Barbie won't help our long-term fate it might still lift the sp short-term (illogical as that it is really).

Still, thinking that Picturehouse on its own could generate $3.4bn revenue in a month is pretty embarrassing to say the least. Clearly he doesn’t even know what Picturehouse is.

That CINE could have made a profit is much more believable but unfortunately not true either for May.

Well, they failed but they have got more influence so maybe a decent compromise for both companies. Time will tell depending on how the new BOD perform.

T4G - largely agree with you first post and glad that you agree with me that the economy is far from 'fine' - which was my point.

Not so much with your second post as with volumes down there is bigger a risk that revenue increases are offset by rising expenses. So will wait to see the actual numbers for Boo but hopefully they will still meet their guidance.

Firstly Picturehouse didn't have revenue of $3.4bn in May, it was $3.4m.

Secondly it didn't make a profit, but instead a loss of over $1.4m.

In addition Picturehouse is (obviously) just a small fraction of CINE's business. The rest of the UK reported a loss of $37m in May and the US made a loss of $52m.

Once again maidit has maiditup so would be best ignored along with Dean's $240m opening day box office for both Barbie and Oppenheimer. That's actually the COMBINED figure over the whole WEEKEND. Still extremely impressive though of no help to us I'm afraid - too little, far too late.

Looks like retail sales up a bit against last month (with non-store retail flat) but down a bit against last year. Hardly earth-shattering info though good that sales appear to be holding up. But retail sales is just one measure. To say that an economy is fine generally especially when inflation is nearly 8% is just silly. Many here and on other boards were really welcoming the news of the larger than expected drop in inflation - now are we saying it doesn't actually matter as everything's ok anyway?

What? Like the London property market? Yes, that's a real litmus test of the wider economy isn't it? I'm invested in Boo, other retail and plenty of travel stocks and am comfortable in each (though some more than others) but to say the economy is fine is at best an oversimplification and at worst just plain stupid.

As far as I can see there has been no delivery at all. It is all still just theory. The only testing that matters is to actually mine using the algorithm, not just "testing it as we speak on the difficulty level of current BTC".

I simply don't believe the 2.6x boast and clearly neither does the market.

A. I own shares. I have not and have never shorted it (or any stock come to that).

HH - I go on about the discount as even with a big discount they could only raise £5m or so which is nothing when put against their stated objectives of reducing debt and supporting growth. I agree the 10p was reasonable given where the sp had been over recent months but at the time of the actual offer the sp WAS much higher and should have made it appear more attractive.

Anyway it is less the discount that concerns me but the amount raised and the fact they set the bar so low for the minimum in the first place. They clearly needed and wanted more (given their objectives for it) but at least have enough now to keep the lights on for a few more months even if it isn't going to have any noticeable impact on debt or growth. That few months could still turn out to be crucial depending on how soon BTC moves up.

You need a new crystal ball then.

Smiler - if you've been posting for that long then I'm a bit surprised you don't recognise me as a LTH (over 2 years now) but obviously I haven't made enough impression. I'm still holding some but switched most of it to US miners where I have thankfully recovered my ARB losses.

There is nothing wrong with trading at all but it's the posts that dress it up as a good (longer term) 'opportunity' or make silly sp predictions that annoy me. Under any reasonable analysis this company is in a deep hole that only a soaring BTC will pull it out of (but even then it will still in my view not do nearly as well as the US miners). Of course there can be decent trading profits to be had but again the US miners offer much better ones in my view.

As to sp predictions, no I don't generally make these though I do predict the sp will drop to around 10p, and probably below, before or soon after the new shares go on the market. Basically though I don't see the point in guessing the sp and publicising it as if I've got some magic crystal ball and everyone should listen. Even if someone was quite good at predicting share prices theirs would be lost amongst all the others that are mostly hopeless.

Just ignore it CWWX. The sp is stagnant and the end all but inevitable so the gambling rampers are just resorting to abuse, making things up or (in the case of maidit) not making any sense whatsoever.

ARBK is largely irrelevant because of the volumes. As to BTC taking off you must be looking at a different graph to me. If it does take off then of course ARB will benefit, just not nearly as much as miners that have much stronger balance sheets and credible growth plans.

"I don’t really care if Argo are still trading in 12 months" - so not an investor but just another Johnny-come-lately trader who has latched on to what seems to be a company with a low SP historically but clearly has no real idea how it got there and why it is in such a weak position to recover.
