If that is the case I am “relieved” - I almost had the impression that you were uncovering weaknesses not raised by S.

Maybe a bit late and maybe/surely my legal knowledge is very limited but can we please not discuss things that could be picked up here by a S employee or even a lawyer acting for S?

The trial starts Monday 12 September and finishes 16 September - so expect a verdict in the afternoon/evening UK time on Friday 16 September.

I am holding- and holding strongly.
Personally selling now is like a 1000m sprinter quitting a race at 990m.
At the end of the day it is a question of whether we trust that
A) N has a case and was wronged
B) The litigation funder did. some in depth analysis
C) N has a strong legal team
If one put a not sure against any of the above yes than it makes sense to sell but I personally put a strong yes against A, B and C.

@MC866: Yes Samsung can appeal but in the meantime Nanoco will launch injunctions and has already started the process in Germany. If Samsung is not able to sell their TVs in Germany this will be a big hit for them - also the negative publicity would be irritating and painful for them.
I am not an expert but my hunch is if N wins the trial (fingers crossed) S will reach out to N very quickly to reach a settlement. Not because they are repentant but because from a commercial perspective it makes sense - also this could really become a PR debacle for them.
So yes I expect a hike but the cherry will only come a bit later when there is an RNS that S and N have reached a global settlement.
That’s my thinking but always interested in other views.

I hold 85% in my ISA and 15% in my taxable vehicle- I will offset there my wins against some duds.

This is a rather learned board - so many things we learn here.
Maybe we can ask Samsung management for their definition of the word - their expert opinion would surely be very enlightening.

@amerloque: Yes…. I am originally from Germany so sometimes do get things slightly wrong… as long as I got Nanoco as an investment right never mind…

@troublesome: I think you are spot on the money. Corporate hybrid and cynicism in its purest form.
I think however that Samsung now thinks that they have made an error here - but this is not repentance more a sign that this has become a painful side show for them.

@hellojello: Samsung billions play no role on the decision the jury will take. Sure Samsung billions can buy them the services of a top notch legal team but fact is that Nanoco has also an excellent legal team and so far all the major legal decisions have been ruled in Nanoco’s favour.
Samsung billions will play a role as they guarantee that any damages, litigation multiplier sum, future license payments can be relied to be paid as Samsung can hardly claim lack of funds…

Thank you very much Hawi. Your reply is really helpful and you are right - it might well be Friday 16th September. Somehow I feel the decision might be made public only after London trading hours.
Anyway be it what it might be the value of the Nanoco story will only be revealed once Gilstrap reveals the multiplier for infringement (if N wins).

Can someone please confirm that the below timeline is correct:
1. 12 to 16 September: Trial
2. In the week 19 to 24September: Announcement of damages verdict and we will see if a) N wins and if yes b) whether the jury finds S guilty for wilful infringement
3. In the week or months starting 26 September Judge Gilstrap reveals what multiplier for infringement and what license rate should be applied
I guess the “true” value of N will only be revealed after 3) has happened.

Yes I second Hawi’s message.

This is an excellent board but probably nerves are fraying at the edges.

Those that believe that N communication and actions have been honest and transparent will stay invested - as I do to a significant degree.

@FDred: Not quite…. The market is now looking for a win in the litigation trial followed by news from contract from the unknown customer based in continental Europe.

@hellojello: Anyone convinced that N will win will not care too much if he gets in at 42 or 39…. Not being arrogant here but if Nanoco wins this case with a decent multiplier the difference between 42 and 39 will appear insignificant.
I am long here and very confident that N enters the final showdown here in a very strong position.
Even if S launched appeals afterwards these will be just face saving manoeuvres as the trial in September is really the summit in this saga.

Relax everyone- Markman went our way, PTAB went our way. Feeling confident and holding on to all my shares.

@troublesome: I don’t see it this way. I would say it was a means of further tightening the screws. Yes, it can be seen as a sign that N want to settle but there is nothing wrong to this - as long as a good compensation is achieved for what S did. to N.

@Sammy88: I agree with you on the GBP 1 mark as achievable. It could go beyond GBP 1 but for this to happen we need a lot of press coverage as this might trigger broader interest and a little stampede into Nanoco. We all know that the market can be like a herd.

@BeContrarian: Please no share buyback. Quite honestly I have seen several share buybacks amongst my holdings and they didn’t really boost share price. I prefer a decent dividend: Cash in hand and transparent. As I hold the majority of my N shares in an ISA the dividend will be tax free.
