@BeContrarian: I don’t believe that there could be a settlement without any mentioning of concrete numbers. The CEO of N would insist on publishing some concrete numbers to reassure investors.

Sammy88 - I really like your contributions so thank you from my side.
Regarding literature for your children have a look at “Dot and Anton” - another children’s book by Erich Kaestner. An absolute delight as is “Emil and the detectives”. Hope you can track these titles down and that they give your kids as much pleasure as they gave me as a kid - and to confess sometimes I still read them :-)

No worries Nanogeddon - I guess we are now all stuck in the waiting game. A bit hard after all the energy and optimism here.
I remain optimistic here for good reason I believe but boy they don’t make it easy for us.

@Nanogeddon: My gut feeling says not before a trial. Let’s face it S with its deep coffers could have easily settled by now. My strong feeling is that this will go to trial but that (if) S loses they will try to settle after the verdict.

@JBongo: I like your sense of humour!
@Feeks: I trust BT on commercialisation- he really doesn’t come across to me as one of the CEOs who are full of hot air.
Obviously as someone who is a big shareholder (at least for my own) portfolio I would say that but my guts tell me that Nanoco will come good on two fronts.
And now to a non Nanoco related matter: If any of you have young children and are wondering what book to buy any of Erich Kaestner books will do the trick (Emil and the detectives…is most famous but all his books have a charm). End of recommendation and apologies for this slightly off topic comment but in a world that is topsy turvy best to have other interests than charts going up or down.

I have now arrived at this rather bizarre portfolio structure: 40% in cash followed by 37% in Nanoco.
Weirdly I am actually quite happy with this: Good to have a real cash buffer in these days and as Feeks has said Nanoco does really act as an anchor these days. The only downside is my stress level: Every day I am checking in on whether there are news…quite frankly after two postponements I don’t know how I would cope with….I shall not even mention it!

@Sammy88: But don’t you believe that S would only appeal if they thought that the damages awarded to N would be ridiculously high? Let’s say that S gets slapped with a USD 500 million verdict. For S USD 500 would be pocket change…. and I assume they would be happy to pay up on the spot.

@peregrinetrouser: I actually believe that if N wins that S will not appeal. For two reasons: 1. N could after a trial win get injunctions in other jurisdictions and thus inflict substantial financial and reputational damage to S. 2. S is cash rich - what chances do they have on a case where the patents have been upheld and they also lost on a trial (if N wins the trial). Let’s all remember that as soon as N wins next week the clock will be ticking for S.
S might be ruthless but they will also see reason - and paying expensive lawyers on a case that after next week might be hopeless will not be their thing.

Dear all, I don’t know about others here but I personally had a nice bite at 45.9p today. Whoever was selling today my thanks for allowing me to have another bite at the cherry at below 50p.

@Feeks: You might be. I think we have all be waiting long enough here for an outcome and time that justice is served to Nanoco.
Also if we win and can hopefully sell part of our holdings with good profits we could reinvest the gains into other companies at beaten down levels - or hold cash if we want to stay out of the market.

@Nanonano: I am more confident about the time frame - once Nanoco wins the trial S will be massively on the back foot. Yes they can appeal but the hole will only become bigger and bigger - legal fees will get bigger and commercially they will have to compensate N anyway. I think at the latest after a trial verdict S will realise that the game is up.

@Thunder2040: Thank you for your extensive reply - really much appreciated on my side. I have to say that I have done only little research but I often find that if I get the basics right (company at a low valuation but operating in an increasing/growing market) that my gut instinct often gets it right.
Your detailed write up below actually makes an intellectual case so much appreciated by me.

@Thunder and Skerries: I had a second bite at 318p. The thing that I like is that James Fisher offers specialist services in areas that will see growth in the medium term. Any buy in the low 300s will pay out - in my personal opinion.

Please let us put a stop here to all this speculation of a settlement. As Feeks has said people who/if they have confidential information should adhere to professional rules and keep absolutely quiet for their sake and also that of all others on this board.

My take here is that people are too much nervous here. To recap we have two good things in the oven:
1. Upcoming trial with S which could see an upside of easily 40% of today’s share price up to a trebling…
2. Production order from major European customer
Until either 1) or 2) realizes which is in my opinion only a matter of a few weeks/months we have reassuring RNS to keeping our spirits up.
Maybe I am missing something here but I remain resolutely confident and fully invested.

@troublesome: No, I studied history at Cambridge University but entered finance afterwards. Still am an avid reader of history books.

@Sammy88: You are so so right. Personally my hunch is ca GBP 650m for past infringement and say license fee of USD 10 per TV going forward for duration of IP.
