Additional £20 million wage bill is probably not a problem, setting a precedent is defo a problem for future pilot, cabin crew, ground staff strikes especially if IAG gives up easily. Pilots will bring down BA if they strike...£45m a day loss is predicted...that will hurt IAG big time if it happens...It is up to pilots if they want that and then face Ryanair type action of redundencies....what goes around comes around.

Little bit happier now since my moan at 7.30am after reading the results :) Glad I called it right and added some more. Now waiting for a proper re-rate to 600p, hopefully next week.

Good luck with your investments...there are some gem of British companies ridiculously undervalued....take IAG for example...they are loaded with cash and producing crazy profits...at some point things will improve if you are a long term investor.

Read the June trading update RNS, this is a well run company with net cash and a high margin order book. Just need patience until the 21st Aug half year announcement. £150m mcap for company producing profits of £40m is crazy. I am quietly confident things will change for Costain. GL all.

"Revenue secured to date for FY2019 is £1.1 billion with the Group's operating divisions expected to trade within the target margin range for the year. Revenue secured for FY2020 is c£900 million (compared to c£850 million for FY2019 at the same stage last year) and is also higher margin business overall.

The Group's order book is £4.2 billion (30 June 2018: £3.7 billion). The Group also has a preferred bidder position of c£600 million (30 June 2018: c£400 million) and tendering levels remain high.

The Group has a robust balance sheet including a strong net asset position and positive net cash, and expects to report an average month-end net cash balance for H12019 of c£65 million."

Can't compare UK to US. UK is going through unique set of circumstances (dare I say the boring B word). Also have you looked at what happened to Ryanair. If BA pilots strike and bring the company down with them, they will have to face Ryanair type action. Simples.

I am also surprised with the fall. I am currently investing in companies with cash...IAG announced their results today...they have c.£7000m in cash yet SP is almost half of what it was last year....really struggling to understand the math however I believe long term...these companies with cash will be winners...

And last yeat we were 700p with lower profits, high debt... Mind continue to boggle.. Appreciate the risk of the strike but it is no way worth half the sp. Ridiculously low mcap for the brand and money making machine

To be Frank... I don't want piddly 10-20p divi... I want SP to re rate. I think divi will increase in due course though

Wow... Some amazingly good numbers... €960m profit... Debt was slashed by 25%... €8000m cash on hand... Mind boggling... What is even more mind boggling is current SP... we should be north of 600p...but hey WTFDIK

Also, £28m mcap for a company generating £100m revenue with no debt and net cash of £17m is ludicrous. We should be re-rating at some point.

Great RNS. Huge increase in revenue, filtering of lower margin contracts, huge cash pile, nearing profitability. Bodes well for the second half.

"bunch of billionaires bailing them out", billionaires are self serving bast****. They won't bail out jacks**t. I will keep my opinion and see this badboy fail in next few years. Digital is the future. Metro will keep pumping money (at shareholders'expenses) in its expansion and will drown in its own mess. Time will tell.

Cuddothisnow - I don't believe in shorting but I am pretty sure in 5 years time this company would be next to extinct. If I wanted a dinosaur bank to look after my money, there are plenty of other options....Barclays, LBG, HSBC, Natwest etc. There are good digital banking options out there Marcus, Monzo, Revolut. I don't understand why bank with Metro!!

I would advice everyone here to avoid this failing knife or get hurt. Your choice.

Amazon retail hasn't really turned the "profit tap" on. Imagine when it does!!! Metro has neither the brand like Amazon, nor customer service and don't get me started on comparing their SP with Amazon.

You are assuming big footfall when you mention those numbers in next 5 years. You can already see high streets deserted, why would that change as online gathers further pace and market share? Amazon is the king while all physical retailers are counting costs. Same will happen to Metro bar a small number of branches.

Monzo and Revolut are the future. Metro was never a £4b company and it never will be. When did you last go to a bank branch? People want comfort of their sofas with smart phones in their hands.

I dont think this is stock market corruption issue. You need to understand that in the age of Monzo and Revolut, there is no future for Metro Bank type physical branch model. I am sorry but that's a fact. Just how Thomas Cook, Debenhams, Dixons suffered, Metro Bank has suffered and will continue to suffer. Sooner you accept that fact, better it is.

We are just re-rating to 2p and than onwards to 4p in short term. Bring on the good news!!
