Interesting, isn't it? Utterly polarised opinions on ANGS... and yet a large consensus on Boris and Government.
Over the last seven years I've had to spend a considerable amount of time negotiating with civil servants (those are the "jobs for life" guys entrusted with enacting policies defined by ministers)... and it's been a really depressing eye-opener. Even in the one area in which I was involved, the incredible amount of bureaucracy, the staggering inefficiency and the sheer wastes of the amounts of money that I saw for myself were literally jaw-dropping.
The Civil Service and Government ministers were actually as bad as each other, but in different ways. The CS never dared to make any sort of sensible decision (in the civil service, they well know that nobody ever gets sacked for inaction) and ministers are ill-informed, clueless, arrogant and entirely self-serving. Neither group would survive in the real world of business.
As for BoZo? He's definitely not as thick as people think... BUT he encapsulates that utterly toxic mix of breath-taking arrogance, utter self-entitlement, random knee-jerkism and total hypocrisy that is typical of people from his background. The man's a long-proven liar - and worst of all, the lying doesn't matter to him at all - he's only concerned when he gets caught. Do as I say, not do as I do... one law for BoZo and entitled chums, another for the rest of us.
There's no way he'll resign - he has no shame nor any scruples. He'll have to be dragged out, kicking and screaming. And if the Tories don't do this, there'll be a red landslide in 2024.
Sajid Javed is an irrelevance - he bottled it as Chancellor, resigning as soon as things started to look tricky. However, I am gutted that Rishi's gone. The most worrying thing in Rishi's resignation letter - apart from the thinly veiled accusations of deliberate dishonesty and nigh on total incompetence - was the revelation about massive differences in strategy. BoZo's obviously got a short-term band-aid fix planned of temporary tax cuts, which are bound to make things worse in the mid- to long-term. Rishi knows this..
And don't get me started on the loathsome Liz Truss, slimeball Gove or uber-arrogant Rees-Mogg. As for Pritti Patel? That egomaniac makes Norman Tebbit look like Mother Theresa.
BoZo... what a car crash and all self-inflicted through arrogance . The master of hypocrisy and blatant lies.
Bl**dy Old Etonians, eh? George went there too - let's hope he doesn't turn out to be cut from the same cloth.
