European Off-takes Begin . . . great for EMH/Cinovec16 Oct 2025 09:49
Vulcan Energy has signed a binding offtake agreement with Glencore for 36,000–44,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide over eight years from its planned Phase One project in Germany. The deal is conditional on Vulcan securing project financing, completing construction, and producing battery-grade lithium, with delivery expected post-2028. This agreement secures about 20% of Vulcan’s projected output and strengthens its financing case, but actual production is still years away as the company has no operating facility yet.

Here's why this Glencore-Vulcan offtake is actually bullish for EMH /Cinovec:
Strategic Context,
Glencore entering into a conditional offtake with Vulcan — a project that's still years from production and with a higher execution risk than Cinovec— signals a real appetite from major players to secure EU lithium exposure early, even before construction.
Vulcan now claims to have fully allocated its Phase One output with offtakes. That removes Glencore’s optionality for Phase 1 and forces them (and peers) to look elsewhere.
EMH’s Cinovec is thee most credible large European deposit forecasted to reach production.
Why offtake after the DFS makes strategic sense: -Post-DFS = lower risk for buyers
A DFS will validate:
Capex/Opex, Product quality (pilot-scale testing), Engineering viability, Timeline estimates
That’s the point where a Tier 1 OEM or trader can: Lock in a supply position, Help with project financing, Possibly negotiate convertible debt, equity, or prepayment terms.
What to watch for next with EMH: 'DFS Publication'
-Timeline: Expected Q42025, Likely triggers: valuation re-rate, strategic investor moves, offtake deal(s), Offtake announcement (likely lithium carbonate or hydroxide), Could involve: Glencore, Stellantis (ČEZ partner), LGES, or other EU battery OEMs
Project financing pathway:
-A pre-financing offtake would massively strengthen EMH’s negotiating position
