The stakes are high29 May 2022 15:56
Afternoon...
In a post in 2011, a random old boy said the following:
‘All...
Longer term holders may recall a fairly impromptu ...
but very senior level ...ceremony at the SH1 well site...
it was upon the first discovery of oil
and it has been all but lost in the sea of noise that sometimes dominates this board
That is a pity...
as, at that ceremony... it was suggested that the oil was 'unmeasure-able'...
perhaps some newer holders might even be unaware of that statement
I hope to show you WHAT 'unmeasure-able' actually looks like’
BTW1...
The very senior chap who made that statement at the SH1 Well site
was none other than the simply irreplaceable Adnan Samarrai
One of the most successful/greatest explorers for hydrocarbons ever to have walked
Adnan worked for Saddam Hussain for very many years
It would not be too much to say that his technical work was the very basis upon which the wealth of Iraq was founded
(yes, I know the rest...Messrs Bush and Blair)
He was also kind enough to become my personal friend and technical ally...
he even represented me in a senior meeting
I miss him greatly (Covid 19 got him and his lovely Wife...whilst both at home in Erbil)
In that post back in 2011, that same old boy said the following:
‘I can tell you that the GKP images that I possess are, in their scale AND intensity,
quite unlike others I have
relating to several other oilfields of other companies’
BTW2...
As everyone now knows, GKP’s Shaikan field
Then became one of the top 20 oilfields of modern history
BTW3...
As to Guercif...
it is complex (as was the very different COMPLEX thrusted fold belt of the Zagros...
in fact, that fold belt is still rotating/moving at some pace)
However, correctly handled...
it holds the potential to dwarf Shaikan
The stakes here are high indeed...be under no illusion
Funny old World
