Wressle Flow Rate24 Dec 2021 17:30
In case anyone's interested, I've also posted this on the ADVFN board in response to a comment about the choke size being used:
"My now ancient oil field experience says that the reported 666 bopd (plus the gas) flow rate on a "highly restricted" 20/64 inch choke is excellent, but it doesn't mean that the choke is only one third open. This is because the maximum choke size isn't one inch. The size can be up to, but rarely is, up to 2 inches for a very slow producing reservoir. The choke usually consists of a short, cylindrical steel pipe with a conical insert, past which the oil has to flow before it's measured. This mean that the flow is through a ring-like opening with a specified width, eg. 20/64" or just over 1/4". However, because it's a ring, if you halve the choke size you actually reduce the area of the opening by a factor of four. This may seem counter-intuitive but we can be confident that the reported flow rate is an excellent one. The reported 666 barrels per day rate for the oil alone is equivalent to about 16 (imperial, not US) gallons per minute, which is pretty impressive for an onshore UK well. Once the flare and separator issues have been sorted out, I'd be slightly surprised if Wressle doesn't do even better than this".
